Topic: Magician Parody
Message: Posted by: davidmagic (Jan 27, 2005 12:41PM)
We all have loved Johnny Thompson and Carl Ballantine in their hilarious parodies of magic and magicians. Certainly some of the Amazing Jonathon's act also counts. Back in the 1970's I remember a magician who did the linking rings using his encircled fingers and multiplying fingers and such. He did his own "ta ta ta da ta" musical score. I think he also did the recently revived Bandana/banana trick as well-out of book, not with a cassette. Can someone tell me who he is/was?

That was Art Metrano, who was in many of the Police Academy movies.

At his website yoou can see him perform as the Great Mertano. There is a 5 minute video of people talking about his accidental comedy show, the last 3 minutes or so is Art as the Great Mertano. Its very funny.

Care to provide us with a link? BTW, it's Metrano, not Mertano.

My apologies, you may find Art Metrano's website at...are you ready for this?

http://www.artMETRANO.com

The site may be under construction because all I got was a flash intro. But in the lower corner it says 'See what people are saying about Art', or something to that effect. Click on that to get the video clip. The Great METRANO portion is the last 3 minutes or so of a 5 minute video..

This is old and probably no body cares, BUT,Steve Martin also did one of these routines.
