Topic: Final Production

I have an act that, in my opinion, is really good, but I want to add a final production at the end from a newspaper. Does anyone have any suggestions. The only pet I have right now is a dog and I'm short of money at the moment so if anyone has any suggestions of something I can produce that from a newspaper that either can be found around the house or doesn't cost that much it would be great.

A hat coil. Check out McBride's 'Magic on Stage' volume 1 for more information.

Apart from that, you might try and produce a bottle of wine from the paper.

Keep us updated!

It depends a lot on your motivation, your act and what you are doing in your act up to that point in time. It also depends upon your character on stage, your style of performance and if their is an underlying theme or story that is being told to the audience.

Without knowing any of this, I can offer a suggestion I used to use in an act I was working on myself. The theme was one of a guy on a street corner at night where by a simple rasio turns on and the music and magic happens to him alone outside. In the end, the paper is restored whole again just as the radio states rain is moving in and you hear it start to rain. He takes the paper up over his head, but that is just not working right. He brings it back down again when all of a sudden the music changes on the radio and "Rain Drops Keep Falling On Your Head" starts to play. In a blink of an eye, the paper is tossed aside and from it is produced a very very large umbrella.

Now this works because it fits my style and my character and theme I am trying to portray in my act. I hope it gets you thinking at least and sparks some ideas for you.

Wal-Mart has some good looking jumbo clocks like the old bell alarm clocks. Produce a jumbo clock from the newspaper.

What you produce depends a lot on your character, sty;e and theme of the act that you are doing. If ycan gibe us a bit more on this, we can help you out more.

Thanks for the help everyone but I won the competition without using a final production at the end even though I would of really liked to produce something at the end but oh well.
Thanks anyway

Congrats. Can ypou tell us a bit more about what you performed in your act and what feedback you got on it?

Sure. I came out on stage and "accidently" hit my table. I then started to tyake my gloves off but then stopped and took out a few pieces of newspaper from my pocket and showed them (no tear torn and restored newspaper)and then shook them as if I was going to restore it but stopped and stuck it under my table to balance it. Then I took off my gloves and changed them to a streamer (B&W gloves to streamer) and produced a cane from the streamer. I then took a red silk from my breast pocket and made a red ball apear, multyplied it to 4 then back down to 1 then chaged it to an egg and changed the egg to a silk(Egg to silk). I then made a rose appear from the silk and vanish and reappear it then stick it in my breast pocket and produce a silk fountain. At the end of the fountain I had a neilson coke bottle as a final production, I took it out and stuck it in a paper bag and turned the bag over holding the bottle as a gag then crumpled it up and threw it over my shoulder. I then did 20th century silks with a bottle production. then blendo and produced a glass and a can from the blendo silk and did the airborne glass drank the drink, put it on my table covered it with a cloth and vanished it(ala black art table) took half a bow, stopped and got the newspaper, retored it and picked up the can and walked off stage

I wanted to produce something from the newspaper but it turned out okay. The only thing they told me is to crumple up the bag with the bottle and try and watch the angles on my fountain when I had it in my pocket because the judges said they could occasionally see it and that was it. And because I won I was given the oppotunity to perform the next day in Our Annual Family Day of Magic

That sounds great and a good opportunity for you. Just bare in mind to take the judges comments and others commenst to heart and always strive to improve upon what you learn and improve the act each time out.

Now you have a good foundation in which to work and build to the act. Perhaps nopw you can develop your stage character a bit more and introduce this character into the act. This would give you more of a reason for doing the things you do in the act.

You also have a lot of beverage style magic and appearances. Perhaps this can become a nice reoccuring central theme to the act. The beverages and bottles keep being produced through out the act at various times. This also adds a new level and "layer" to the act.
