Topic: New Tenyo 2007 tricks
Message: Posted by: gitty (Oct 14, 2006 12:47PM)
I just saw pictures of the six new Tenyo magic tricks for 2007!

There are three new tricks:

And three classic tricks:

I think they will be released before Christmas.
Does anybody knows more?

Wow! Looks like a Tenyo version of a mini Koorwinder Kar. Also, a Mike Powers item!! When I was at Tokyo Disneyland over the summer I saw this new line of Tenyo products based on classic works of international (but mostly American) material. The items I was able to examine were better quality than one might expect from Tenyo (at least the Tento I knew as a kid) and the material was really impressive. I've always had a fondness for Tenyo and this new line piqued my interest once again. Richard Kaufman usually reviews the new Tenyo line each year in Genii (perhaps the November issue?) and there is usually an additional item or two that is only available in Japan. Last year's Japanese exclusive was a Harry Potter-esque version of Ben Harris' Cosmosis, which included a miniature broom in place of the matchstick.

Hope the new items are as good as most of the previous ones.. :) ..

I was lucky enough to attend the Tenyo Magic Festival, in Tokyo, this year where they debut all the new products. All of the new Tenyo items are really cool and inovative as only Tenyo effects can be. The "New Kornwinder Kar" has a great Tenyo inovation that allows the car to be examined and rolled back and forth to the spectators content.
Mike Powers "Diminishing Returns" effect is the one effect that will not be sold in the USA.

Shame, Diminishing returns is fantastic!
I want one of those little cases for the golf ball!!
Bring on December!
Hard to figure out the other 3 effects, but the chalk board and spoon looks like it could be fun!

Ted, can you tell me what are the basic dimensions of the chalkboard?
I hope it is usable from stage? Being Tenyo though, it is probably not.
Thanks, aaron

I was in Tokyo about 2 weeks ago, and the person at the magic booth in a department store demo'ed President's Cabinet and Credit Surprise for me. I really liked Credit Surprise as it looked very real, works with a borrowed credit card, and I end up buying it with Japanese instructions and all :). President's Cabinet had a cool effect, but it only worked with a 1000 Japanses Yen, so I didn't buy it. I didn't see the other 2007 Tenyo stuff at the magic booth. The cool thing about Tenyo tricks in Japan is that you can buy them in any department store, and they cost about 50% less than North American prices. The only drawback is most of the tricks only have Japanese instructions, but you can pretty much figure them out by looking at the illustrations.

I'm also interested in the chalkboard. Stage size or close-up?
Message: Posted by: Smoke & Mirrors (Oct 29, 2006 09:19AM)
Hey, Ted sent me this information on the chalkboard:
***************************

It's just a bit larger than a poker size card.
So as with most of thier stuff, I would consider it for close-up. Still a very clever effect.

Sooner or later Tenyo will put up video demo's as they do every year...and I'm looking forward to it!

I have bought two Tenyo tricks here and they have great prices and speedy shipping to europe: http://themagicwarehouse.com/

I asked the guys at MJM MAGIC if they carry the Tenyo line.

They told me that they will try to open an account with Tenyo to have their line of tricks available to all of us.
Message: Posted by: jerrydb4 (Nov 13, 2006 04:49PM)
I inquired about MJM carrying the line as well. Jeff at MJM and Howard at The Magic Warehouse are both great to deal with. You can pick up some older Tenyo stuff in a couple of the Ebay magic stores as well.

I'm not sure if it got lost in the shuffle but The Martinka link that Ted provides above ( http://www.martinka.com/martinka/martinka/tenyo.asp ) offers the items individually or as a complete set, with free shipping. I'm really looking forward to that pocket sized Koornwinder Kar!

I think I will buy the mystic black board t-225, looks cool.
I can recommend Tenyos Mystery Triangle and Prison Box, they are great...

Besides Hank Lees in the US who else have the Tenyo line.

Hard to understand that such great items have so poor distribution in America???

This is great, I like the mini case...

I think I must have it.

We now have an account with Tenyo's USA distributor, and we can begin ordering things as soon as we compile a list of items. Jean-Luc, if you or anyone else wants to specially request something, let me know and I can see if we can bring it in for you. There are so many items that we won't be able to bring in everything at one time, but if we can get a tally of what most people want to see, we can work on that initially. Feel free to PM me about it off the board so that this thread doesn't become too long.

Great news Jeff!

Your were my first choice...and your still remain.

Thanks for this answer to the general request.

I enjoy ordering from MJM. I requested that they bring in an older effect -- Mystery Poodle. True to his word, Jeff is bringing it in! Larry Davidson's Scripted Insanity series has a handling for "Pearl the Poodle" that is great and he mentions how to use this Tenyo product to enhance his handling.

MasterBill,

These items were shipped to us from Tenyo on the 5th. The only reason why we still list it as a pre-order is because they haven't arrived in our store yet. They may show up today, in which case the pre-order status will go away and they will be "in stock."

We literally expect them anyday now.

Has the Tenyo Koornwinder car arrived yet, Jeff? I've got a pre-order in, and I'm anxious. :)

I have 4 of TENYO 2007. I think they are great, better than their 2006 range. I vote for Koornwinder Car and Credit Surpise as the best for their 2007.
Message: Posted by: magichoka (Dec 13, 2006 07:51AM)
I saw a full set (6 items) for sale on "Let's make a magic deal!" Anyone know what is the 6th item ? Thanks

MJM Magic received the Tenyo 2007 stuff today.

They ship right away.

Looks like Magic Warehouse has the full line of the new Tenyos:

http://themagicwarehouse.com/hot1.html

I think they have the best prices...
Message: Posted by: magicforu (Dec 14, 2006 02:15AM)
But they only have three items of 2007 Tenyo .

Jeff_Mash: Does Tenyo also include English instructions with their products?
Message: Posted by: RooMan (Dec 14, 2006 03:41PM)
Yes, the instructions are in English.
Message: Posted by: indomagic (Dec 18, 2006 02:04AM)
Unless if you bought in Japan, they only provide you with Japanese instruction.

Does anyone have these new items yet , I would like an honest review.
Message: Posted by: oombob (Jan 23, 2007 01:20AM)
I love the Tenyo demo videos. There is something about the unabashed enthusiasm of the presentations that make them both artful and endearing. The koornwinder car looks great!

Message: Posted by: crdshark86 (Jan 27, 2007 01:01AM)
I don't think ne of these are worth it. I own them all and the koornwinder car is the only one that is the least bit interesting.
