Topic: Jay Sankey "Underground Jam" DVD

MARCH 1st release date.

From jayc:
On March 1 I'm finally releasing my "T-Bone" routine to the magic
fraternity. Many of you have probably already heard about it. It's a torn
and restored card effect that approaches the plot from a whole new angle
and -as easy as it is- I've fried more than a few experienced magicians
with it. You start clean. You end clean. No extra pieces. Nuthin but
magic. You are going to seriously LOVE it. Promise.

The UNDERGROUND JAM DVD also includes "Magi," one of my all-time favorite
3-card sandwich routines. It employs Marlo's "In Lieu Of Vernon's Through
the Fist Move" in a fresh and devious way and features a knock-out,
uber-commercial ending. And again, you end C.L.E.A.N!

Along with those two killers, the UNDERGROUND JAM DVD includes another 18
(!!!) outstanding effects created by myself as well as hotshot creative
thinkers Joe Diamond, Eric Leclerc and Jeff Stone. Inspired stuff with
matchbooks, coins, playing cards, keys, film canisters, wrist watches,
chewing gum, water bottles and magic markers.

I'll tell you more about it next month. 20 Killer Routines! Only $25.00!

Who is this Jay Sankey????

Never heard of him...

Is this his first release? Can someone please provide more information about his experience and credibility?

Dunno..something about being able to put out "20 killer routines" for 25 dollars puts me off it.

This is probably his 1st* release though is it ?

Although it sounds like most of these effects are collaborations. Could be some good stuff. Then again, I'm ever the Sankey optimist.

I think it's kind of funny that he says most of us have probably heard of "T Bone". Where would we have heard of it?

I'm also forever a Sankey optimist, and hopefully this release will get him back on the right track. At least the idea behind the dvd is to release a single effect, and then he's including some 19 others. I'd be more skeptical if it was just another dvd of tricks without highlighting any one single effect. Maybe there will be a gem somewhere, you knows?

I have faith in Sankey, he normally comes through with a hidden gem mixed in with all the other little effects. I wanna see "T-Bone", heard about form someone and said it was amazing.

He probably should have added 5 more "Killer Routines" on the $25 DVD. I personally don't like spending more than $1 per killer routine.

On another note, his "T-Bone" torn and restored effect sounds an awful lot like my "Rib-Eye Ripper" effect. Of course it could just be a variation of Vernon's famous "Cube Steak Card".

That's getting to the "meat" of the matter.. :) ...

I always find three or four gems on most Sankey releases. Stuff I will actually use at some point.

I would buy this dvd (and I will) just for Eric Leclerc's submissions. He is one of the brightest minds in magic at the moment.

I'll agree with that. Eric Is awesome. He's got some excellent material on this DVD. Wait till you see the I.L.U.S. system... brilliant. As for T-Bone. You won't be disappointed. It's an awesome piece, and is going right into my close up arsenal.

Sounds definitely worth looking into.
I look forward to the release of this DVD.

It does sound promising. That 'Razor to matchbook' from Eric Leclerc in Genii was
great. It's good that Jay Sankey is'nt trying to do everything by himself!

This DVD is good. I received a pre-release copy a week or two ago. It has some pretty cool things by the guys. There are some real killers in there and some others I'd say were not so good.

If I had purchased it for 30$ I would not be disappointed.

BalukMagic,

Thanks for the feedback. Since I'm one of the guys on the DVD, I'd be curious as to your feedback or maybe rating of some of the tricks. Don't worry, I can handle the criticism.

Thanks,

Jeff Stone

Attended a lecture put on by him a few days ago where he "performed" T-Bone and Magi which both are now part of one of my routines.

Great reactions.

Can't wait for it Jay, keep the new thinking coming.

I received the pre-release of this just a couple of days ago (thank you Jay!). T-Bone is amazing, I immediately had to learn that one. There are some REALLY killer effects on this dvd. I am going to re-watch it, and post a detailed review.

The video is very funny, especially the random retention vanish Eric does in an explanation. I saw that one coming, HILARIOUS!!! You guys are going to LOVE this dvd!
Message: Posted by: Cameron Francis (Feb 14, 2007 09:36AM)
How are you guys getting all these pre-releases? Man, I want to be in that loop. :)
Message: Posted by: BalukMagic (Feb 14, 2007 10:58AM)
Cameron,

I received a pre-release copy from a friend. He had them because he was on the DVD.

Got it. Can't wait till this is released.

This is my favorite of Jay's right now. The material is very fresh, and visual. Easy as always, and I'd imagine fun to perform. I'm going to watch it from beginning to end tomorrow night and post a review.

Hopefully he will get his reputation back with this, after the dreadful "sleight of hand" DVD
