My latest release gets away from cards and mentalism and is a novel stage effect.

Bowl shown empty and filled with clear water. 3 handfuls of colored sands are then mixed into the water. The sand and water is then flicked into the air with a wooden stick, where water and sand visibly turns into a dry silk (in MID AIR)to match the color of the sand. This is repeated over and over. Finally the water is poured from the bowl and is clear. All the sand has vanished. Entirely self-contained and bowl shown emtpy before and after. A new concept in silk productions as the water flicked into the air visibly turns into dry silks.

Comes with Bowl, gimmicks, and sand. Nice thing is NO REFILLS to buy. Use the same sand over and over again. Nope sand is not Wax coated. A different approach.
NOTHING LOOKS LIKE A MAGIC PROP. Just a metal bowl that can be shown empty and 3 plastic containers full of sand and a wooden stick. Flash without hokey looking magic props that scream magic shop.

Available next week from Hocus Pocus and Doug Tilford.

Only 40 were made, only Hocus Pocus and Tilford will have this item. The 40 have almost all been accounted for. I have NO plans to make any more. This was strictly a limited item for a limited market. If you have interest I suggest you contact one of these dealers soon. I have none available myself, when these two dealers clear out what they have it is gone.

Can we see a video of this? It sounds interesting.

I heard that Silken Sands uses a new and interesting optical illusion to create the illusion that the bowl is empty of silks. It is angle proof. You show the bowl empty, pour in water, pour in different colored sand and with a wooden stick you flick silks matching the colored sand from the bowl into the air. You pour out the water and show that the bowl is empty and that the sand has vanished. You use the same sand over and over again without the need for refills. The sand does not use wax.

I was very interested in the optical illusion concept and the vanishing sand so I purchased it. I should receive it soon. I believe only 40 will be made and should become a collectors item.

I forgot to mention that Silken Sands is only being sold by Hocus Pocus since Tilford had sold out of this item. Only 40 were made and no more will be made so if you decide to get it, you should get it ASAP from Hocus Pocus.

Hi-- wanted to check in as I received one of the forty made.
Itís a really interesting concept,
and utilizes a combination of very interesting methods,
obviously for an effect with this much going on
there are multiple things happening at once to accomplish the Magic.

Two things that struck me are:
First that they included lots of details with the props,
even rubber bands so your sand wonít leak in travel,
and a repair-kit if your set gets dropped in travel.
Second, the instructions are astoundingly detailed,
considering with most magic you get one vague page.

The magic that happens is very pretty,
and the illusion is practical, other than having to deal with water and sand.
My long-term brainstorming will be to create an imaginative and logical presentation for the magic to happenó
they include a good suggested theme, but I want to go one step further.

Considering the price and everything you receive,
Silken Sands is well made and well thought out,
I will upgrade a few of the parts such as the wooden sticks,
but it really does come complete, all you add are silks and water.

This IS going to take a lot of practice and rehearsal,
if only to navigate all the many props on your table,
ensure smooth movement sequences,
and make what you are doing look realistic and natural.
I really like their suggestions for adding extra loads!

The ďoptical illusionĒ thatís been referred to is clever,
and works-- maybe not quite as strongly as I would like it to,
but they cover all those details in the instructions as well.
Actually the methods of mixing sand and water are the most clever!

This is not a piece Iíd use in my usual ďcommandoĒ show,
just because of the extra care and space needed
to work with liquid, sands, and silks, etc,
but now Iíve found the right music, once I settle on a presentation story,
it is a piece that will get used in my full-platform shows.

Iím so pleased that the decision was made to only make forty!
I love when the magic I do is not done by everyone in town,
I hope they stick to their guns and donít make tons more.

So both a lot of good thinking and good thought
went into the creation of Silken Sands,
it is an unusual offering for platform once routined,
but will take work to make look as beautiful and convincing as possible.

I guess Iíll give it at least eight-stars out of ten-stars!
Magically,
Walt

We only made 40 because we knew with the sand and water issue that the market would be limited. We also wanted to supply something that everyone else wasn't doing. I'm glad you enjoy it, it is a very pretty effect.

Walt, rest assured due to the mess of making these, buying hundreds of pounds of sand, etc. We will not be making any more. I know a lot of people have asked for more, but this is one I will not back down on. The 40 that were made is it, no more. That is a promise.

Tilford has sold out, but I think Hocus Pocus magic still has a few left.
