Topic: Slims Sideshow Discussion Group - Redux
Message: Posted by: thegreatnippulini (Mar 7, 2007 08:14AM)
Yes you heard right, the Slim's Sideshow Discussion Group is back! No thanks to certain people (JS), the first shot I made at reviving the original DG returned nothing but spammed messages that filled every nook and cranny. I have gone through the process of clearing out the old board and wiping the slate clean. The server who I chose to use the DG on has installed spiderblock, so all messages will be sideshow only. Joe Bates ran the original DG several times due to certain people (JS) filling it with jargon and shutting it down. When Joe died, the DG died with him. My original attempt was left out in the cold and died as well. Now that Slim has passed and I have retired from the limelight, I think now is the time to bring it back.

Folks, please take this opportunity to check out the board. Pop in, say "Hi" and we'll see where it takes itself.

Hey folks, I forgot to add the URL for the Slim's Sideshow DG HOMEPAGE. It has some useful tips and info that you may not know. For example, any message containing spam, threats, foul language etc. will immediately be deleted! This means the WHOLE message. The server does not act like the Café with cuss words, so if one pops up your entire message WILL BE DELETED.

Here's the homepage with the info and a neat pic of Slim.

Why is it that when I see the initials JS in reference to sideshow, it is never good?
And that I know who they are talking about right away?

We find these truths to be self-evident. If you know of him, you know.

Heh heh...

In the case of those initials, ignorance is most definatly bliss!

I hear they just had a rattlesnake roundup in Texas.
Message: Posted by: mota (Mar 12, 2007 07:35PM)

The rattlesnake hunters get $5 a pound for them. They are milked of their venom and then cooked.

I am not joking...there are some people here who are really into rattlesnake meat.

Rattlesnake meat is good for jerky, stews and steaks. The skins are worth $$ to tanneries for boots and belts. Then the rattles can go anywhere from $5 to $35.

Now what does all this have to do with... oh, I get it.

You may want to check with Slim's wife Krista to see if it's OK to use his name on a new DG. Just a thought.

Krista has already posted on the new board...
I'll assume it has safely met her approval.
I am pretty sure none of us here would want to do anything regarding slim against her wishes.

Wish I had gotten a set of torches when I had a chance.
Still really miss him on the boards.

John, the DG was approved by Slim when I originally attempted its initial form. JS sent spambots to the site and killed it. As noted, Krista has full support of what I'm doing. Her support of JS and other boards may not exist, okay?

Gwyd, Slim gave me his first torch at the SSG two years ago as a symbol of his appreciation for putting the new Slims DG up, I treasure it always.

We were just getting ready to order a set when Slim passed. Wasn't even going to use them, just set them up in a shadow box on the wall.
Yeah...I'm jealous.

Me too!

Slim and I talked about it, and he said he'd make em'

But, well... He didn't get around to it.

that's fine though... He gave me one of his blockhead nails...it even had boogers on it!
One day...I'll have him cloned.

Nippulini, you do have my support in getting it going again, and I'm glad you did. I have to say that I've none for JS, and when the site closed down, Slim was in tears and a part of him died that day. I'm so glad that you started it up again, and the best of luck to you.

That's a heartbreaking thing to read, Krista.

Good on 'ya, Nips, for keeping the DG alive.

It's the truth love. the DG was a big part of his life as he was pretty much housebound. We was so proud of that site, and it's what brought us together, so I've fond memories of it too. It was a great community where marks like me could ask questions, and get great answers from Nipplulini, Todd, Harley, and others.
Slim will be missed, but let's get the new board running the way it used to be. If I can help in any way Nips, holler.
