Hi all

Just thought I'd share my views on the new Alan Rorrison effect. I'm sure a lot of you are aware about the drawn apart/DLYH routines that appeared a little while ago, and since then Alan has worked on a new method that no other magicians have used or come across.

Incase your not aware of the routine, its basically this:

You draw a stick man on a business card and get the spectator to sign the back. Once this is done you proceed to rub the head and apply a little 'magical' heat and the head moves from the stick man to the corner of the card!

The beauty of this is that there is NO moving parts whatsoever! the simplicity of this is incredible, and I'm really looking forward to performing this. I've always liked Alan's work, and he's definitely one to watch out for in the world of magic!

You can get it at his site http://www.alanrorrison.com, and for 8 its an absolute steal!

The video is clear, concise and well porduced considering he doesent have a big budget to porduce these videos.

A great effect, I'd give it 9/10

Cheers

Paul

Can you compare this to Drawn Apart? I think that's what it's called. It's another available download that's good but this version looks much less complicated!
Message: Posted by: Magicman101uk (Mar 21, 2007 06:52PM)
Yes I have drawn apart and I much prefer Evolution. I was always a little wary about performing drawn apart, due to the nature of the gimmick. With Evolution, you don't have to worry about this.

don't get me wrong, drawn apart is very good, but I much prefer this method.

Hope this helps

Cheers

What is the difficulty level of Evolution? Easy enough for a hobbyist doing magic for friends and family?
Message: Posted by: Alan Rorrison (Mar 22, 2007 03:06PM)
A beginner could do this. And keep in mind. I know some hobbyist who could kick some pros behinds!!

Happy you liked it. Drawn was an " Independent creation" to something I released years ago...... I was annoyed to say the least but I decided to make it a positive

Thanks PortMagician,
Is it the same effect as Don't Lose Your Head on the website? There is nothing for Evolution on the website. I appreciate your help.
Message: Posted by: Alan Rorrison (Mar 22, 2007 03:39PM)
The effect is don't loose your head. people are calling it evolution due to the evolution in it. You can also download the original don't loose your head free from that page but the new one renders it usless in my opinion

Cheers, I will post my thoughts on this.

I have now played around with this and it's excellent. The fact that the specs can actually do the drawing, and the paper/card etc can be borrowed are definite pluses. There isn't really a limit to what you can draw and there really is a lot of possibilities with this. Great effect, great method (which has sooo many possibilities) and for me, a great purchase. Recommended.

Just got it, and really like it a lot. Don't know where to get the special something near me, but will work on it.
Thanks

Wow. This is a gem. I just received it, and absolutely love it. This is the business card handout that you will use. It's amazingly practical, and will leave your audience with something truly impossible. Nicely done, Alan.

Great effect Alan.Thank you for releasing it.
I hope the muggles don't find out and I really hope this is'nt exposed by some plonker in a book!
Message: Posted by: Alan Rorrison (Mar 28, 2007 12:32PM)
There's a lot of exposure and theft going on in magic. At the end of the day its always happened. But Creators still create and I'm happy to be one of them. Thank you for your comments guys. Im over whelmed by them
Message: Posted by: Dave Forrest (Mar 28, 2007 01:40PM)
Hey Markymark! I'm a plonker in a book(let)! Don't worry though, I won't be exposing this!

Not that my word counts for much but I just have to say that Alan has come up with something REALLY cool here. It's easy to do, practical and the effect is amazing! All in all, a killer routine!

No hawf bad furra wee guy fae Greenock!

Hurry up and buy it! Don't waste your money anywhere else - including http://www.full52.com - I've heard that stuff's all rubbish!

(See what I did there? I managed to plug my own site, cunningly disguising it as useful 'don't go there' style advice! It's called reverse psychology - and some people say that's backwards thinking!)

Dave. ;)

Come on Dave. am a Port Glasga wee fella n yie know it. But Thank lol. Ps http://www.full52.com has terrible products. INFACT you need to go see how bad to even comprehend it!!!!

I just received the download of the new version of DON'T LOSE YOUR HEAD - EVOLUTION from Alan Rorrison.
It's very clever and so easy (also for me :goof:!) to perform!
I own the first verion and also DRAWN APART but Alan Rorrison new version is my favourit!
The video is clear and you will see every detail of the trick and the performance.

I have to give 10/10 points!

Hi Folks

I don't post very often but felt I needed to on this one.

After stumbling across 'Drawn Apart' I was very tempted to purchase, but decided to do a bit of research first, the result of which ended up with me finding out about and buying 'Evolution' instead.

Now I don't know if the method is the same or what but I just wanted to say that 'Evolution' is fantastic, very easy to do, and will fool all. Alan even gives away the method for his old effect for FREE on his site, which incidentally is totally different to the new method, so you get two methods for the price of one...take your pick.

I send my congratulations to Alan for his great thinking and application of the method, well done.

To sum up for anyone thinking of buying this, reading between the lines it seems that Alan had a big part in the creation of 'Drawn Apart' and got stung on it, so ... "support original creators"... put your hand in your pocket and get Evolution... for eight quid you cannot go wrong.

Regards to all.

Matt

Try eBay--that's where I got mine. About $10 with shipping for two (more than you'll ever need).

Isn't this also marketed under another name by a french magician. I am not saying the name because I don't want to expose anything. I am only asking because I don't want to buy the same thing again. Thanks.
Message: Posted by: Markymark (Mar 30, 2007 03:17PM)
You are correct Niva although this is Alan's routine.I like the way Alan leads people away from the solution in his use of the principle.
Message: Posted by: Alan Rorrison (Mar 31, 2007 01:09AM)
That is correct and I also credit in the zip. Keep in mind the principal has been around much longer than both of use though
Message: Posted by: niva (Mar 31, 2007 07:19AM)
Ok. Thanks. I applaud you for the use of the thing. Nice job!!

Hello,

I found some of the gimmicks that are not available in the US and will sell one. Please PM and describe the trick so I know you have it and I will let you know how to go about getting the gimmick

All sorted
Message: Posted by: pantseatflyer (May 4, 2007 09:24AM)
Just ordered Evolution this morning. Looking forward to it!
Message: Posted by: pantseatflyer (May 4, 2007 02:29PM)
Oh My!! How ingenious! I guarantee this effect will KILL. The moves are so minimal, I promise you could teach a layman (please don't!!) this effect in 10 minutes.

My mind is swirling with all kinds of ideas for this effect whether that be Mentalism, Bizarre, Comedy, Restaurant, Walk-Around...Heck..even if you are a salesman, your clients will not forgot you after you show them Evolution!

It's premise is very simple, but the impact is WOW and you finish..clean..clean...clean..!! Did I say you finish clean?

Hats off to Alan.. I give this effect a 10 out of 10!

I take it from this thread that those of us living in the U.S. need to get something "extra" this is not readily available. Is that the case? Otherwise I am ready to buy but am a little concerned.
Message: Posted by: Alan Rorrison (May 6, 2007 04:40AM)
You can get them online very easily.
Message: Posted by: Tom Jorgenson (May 6, 2007 12:32PM)
Has anyone with a Mac ordered this and gotten this file to open? If so, how?
Message: Posted by: Alan Rorrison (May 6, 2007 04:18PM)
Yet again sorted lol. Hope you are all happy with it
Message: Posted by: Steve Haynes (May 25, 2007 01:27PM)
Can a regular business card be used?
Or does it need a certain finish?
Message: Posted by: Alan Rorrison (May 27, 2007 01:05PM)
Just regular stock cards buddy. No special finish needed
Message: Posted by: Steve Haynes (May 31, 2007 09:07PM)
I just got this today and and love it!
I am pretty hard to please but this made me smile.
I got Drawn Apart about a week ago and can tell you, if you want to do this type of effect with just one business card, draw on it, and make the drawing move without anything to ditch and as clean as a whistle, then this is the final answer, by far!
I just knew I had this method figured out, which would have worked but I WAS WRONG!
I am truly overjoyed with this.
Drawn Apart is in my opinion, very good, but this just kills it!
No matter how lazy you are, you will do this, and I can't imagine this being topped.
Thanks Alan
