I read on the BBC today that 50 years ago Panorama, Britains most authoritive current affairs show did a story on the looming spaghetti shortage because the spaghetti trees were not fruiting in Switzerland. Apparently people believed it for years later.

Saddam Husseins son Uday thought it was funny on April Fools Day to tell people food rationing was being lifted. Shame he's dead.

Here in Australia Dick Smith, an electronics millionaire towed an 'iceberg' from Antatica to Sydney to solve a looming water crisis.

Any others?

The site on the worst april fools jokes of all time was the greatest. The one about the dead dog was especially funny. Served the guy right to get fined for such a stupid "pet" trick!
