My new ebook on turning your cell phone into a powerful tool for mentalism

Check out my blog at http://www.letyourmindwonder.blogspot.com for details.

First 50 copies $35, thereafter the price will increase to $42.

See the blog for what some lovely people like Paolo Cavalli and Millard Longman have to say about it.

Appears that it only works for wireless phones which have video or photo capabilities. Us old guys have to stick with letters, numbers, and words.

Well, you old guys do a wise thing... There is nothing bad in sticking with letters, numbers, words!

However, for a change, I found out that David has come up with a blend of high tech and low tech wizardry nicely blended together.

While the device used is, yes high tech BUT very common, the use David does of it is very low tech - and I mean it in a good way - basing himself on time tested and true principles of our art and craft.

Also, and I say this with tongue-in-cheek, Millard Longman also seemed to appreciate this idea; and you cannot certainly call Millard a "youngster" ;)

Sounds nice.

Can you post a list of what's covered in the ebook. It doesn't say on your site.

Thanks for your interest magicman899. As to a list of what is in the ebook - basically I take you on a journey starting with the basic idea and effect and then gradually show you how you can adapt it to the usual mentalist situations (ESP Cards, Drawing Dupes, Book Tests) and then to the ultimate version as described on the site.

I'm sorry if that's not clear enough for you - like so much in mentalism there is a fine line between describing the effects and contents of a book and tipping the method and since I've come up with something that I'm assured is original I'm keen not to tip the method!

If you want to know a little bit more about the kind of effects you can perform...

This was too late for publication... BUT, if you get David's e-book, I had a routine I wanted to add, which clearly uses much more than David's "forecast principle" but, without that, would be impossible...

Four chairs – Three people on stage

One by one, the three participants FREELY choose a chair, no envelopes, no numbers, nothing. Just their free will!

Only now, they are given three colored pieces of cardboard, Yellow, Blue, Red, which they exchange among themselves freely, how many times they want… no Forcing!

One chair is left empty…

Now Mentalist retrieves from the audience a notepad (or a calculator, if you are “tech-minded”) with some numbers added from some people.

The random total arrived at seems a phone number… which is then dialed with a spectator’s cell phone…

A tweeting sound comes from UNDER THE SEAT OF ONE CHAIR…

The phone is now removed from under the chair and a picture is shown to be the only one AND to match the ORDER IN WHICH THE COLORED CARDBOARD ARE FORMING NOW!

I thought I'd report in on my first test drive of Cellular Forecast. It was a roaring success! I am relatively new to mentalism, but I have tried hard to educate myself. Cellular Forecast plays like the real thing! This weekend, I was at a gathering of about twenty people at a friend's house. After I got there, I retired to a quiet corner and set myself up to perform the Ultimate Version that is described in the book. At the appropriate time, I launched into the routine. At the end, after the couple I selected was given repeated opportunities to change their mind as to which object in the living room they wanted (in fact, they did change their mind), I could only smile to myself as I directed attention to my cell phone, which I had left on the coffee table at the outset with a casual comment. When the couple opened the cell phone, with everyone looking over their shoulder, and opened the prediction, you could hear a pin drop. When everyone saw that I had predicted (or influenced) their choice out of all the objects in the living room (a View Master toy belonging to their kids), the place went crazy! This is seriously strong stuff! As I said, even though I am a mentalism freshman, I was well aware of the basic principles that Cellular Forecast is based on, but this takes it to a whole different level. Plus, you don't need any props. Just your cell phone, which you always have with you anyway. Great!

I think that Cellular Forecast is a great idea. The only thing that I can add to it is I would love to use it with John Kennedy's Mind Power Deck.

what do you think,

How would you get the phone under the empty chair, may I ask?

Please feel free to PM me

Do we have to expect another booklet with that routine and others ?? Mr.Numen ??

Yes there will be a companion booklet Mariagi with ideas from other contributors such as Paolo...it might take a little time as I have a couple of other things I need to write out of my system first.

My Review:

It's not easy to review Cellular Forecast without giving it away. As I read it I kept thinking "this is simple, why didn't I think of it?"... but then I would not have thought of all the possibilities David alludes to.

Cellular Forecast is 43 pages long, of which 37(!) of those are dedicated to different ideas using the system. There is a little something in here for everybody, regardless of your personal preference to performance. I particularly liked the ESP card and Positive/Negative applications, and have added them to my close-up arsenal with ease. This is definitely something I can carry around with me for those "impromptu" moments too.

And that's not to say that it's only close-up or impromptu... David covers several ideas and presentation angles suited for different performance situations, although I'd personally be hard pressed to use this in a formal performance. Others might have no trouble doing so.

David's system is a great addition to modern mentalism, and I'll bet that even technophobes will get excited about the possibilities and want to upgrade.

So what is this system about anyway? Well, in a nutshell you'll have more fun giving your audience the illusion of freedom of choice, without fear that you'll "get caught out" or without anything looking too contrived. You probably have most of what you'll need on you already, and will have no problem in adapting it to suit your needs. The very creative and astute performer will realise that with creative freedom and linguistic deception you could "hide" the system in full view (depending on the particular application you use) of the audience, miss the hit by association, but come off stronger because of it! And if you didn't follow that then you'll need to buy this book to find out what I mean!

I like simple ideas that allow many presentational possibilities. I like Cellular Forecast. Well done Dave!

There's little more I can add that hasn't been said already but since I like the sound of my own voice I'll chip in my thoughts.

The ebook itself is very nicely written, a pleasure to read in fact. David Numen knows he's come up with a great idea and is clearly enthusiastic about sharing it. The fact that Cellular Forest is such a good idea the author's enthusiasm is contagious. As you read through the manuscript you can't help but come up with ideas and applications of your own. What you get is not a single effect but a new way of handling predictions.

Of the many presentations David includes, my personal favourite involves having a spectator draw anything she likes and then to reveal your prediction on the mobile phone. Hpwever, fans of Heroes may appreciate how I presented the effect a couple of nights ago. One of the characters on the show can paint pictures that predict the future. I filmed myself drawing a sketch of a bearded man holding up a particular card. Got a spectator with beard to be a 'random' volunteer and did the basic card effect included in Numen's manuscript. The look on everyone's face when they saw the sketch of the volunteer holding the card was priceless. Well worth $35.

Thanks for your kind words and you excellent routine tip Simon.

Just a quick note to say that there's only a week left to obtain the ebook directly from me - as of September 2nd it will become a Lybrary.com exclusive.
