Topic: Help a newb out?
Message: Posted by: acetucker (Nov 7, 2007 02:39PM)
Yeah, I'm new to sharking and I was wondering if any of you could give me some pointers. False shuffles, dealing bottoms and seconds, the difference between a strike and a push off would be helpful.

Have you tried the search feature? Or browsing through old threads? Or buying books/DVDs?

The difference between a strike and a push-off: in one, you strike the card directly, in the other, you push it off.

You should be able to find a lot of info on your own.

Sure, but if I talk to a person, I can ask whatever questions I want. I'm really new to this so far, the only false cut I kno is the swivel cut. I'm learning to others, one being the wolf cut. I'm tryin to work my way up to the butterfly.

If you study the classic texts, you'll have very few questions that a anyone will need to answer for you. Ed Marlo's "Revolutionary Card Technique", for one, would:
A) Answer most of your questions, B) Keep you busy for a lifetime.

Is it a book?
Message: Posted by: NicholasD (Nov 7, 2007 06:07PM)
Yes.

Where can I find it?

ive actually learned one cut since ive posted this, the baSic cut. Youtube it, it's not that hard and looks pretty flashy, for a beginners cut.

http://www.google.com

One search of "Revolutionary Card Tecnique" on google yielded many places to purchase it...Just look.

Your questons have been answered many times before, the SEARCH function is a great tool.

Acetucker, if you are interested in card tricks and flourishes you are not in the right place. You should check out the "pick a card... any card" section.
The gambling spot is dedicated to table artifices.
You should also be able to search by yourself. People around here are not your parents and most likely won't waste time doing the work you are not willing to do yourself.
Message: Posted by: silverking (Nov 7, 2007 08:22PM)
There's likely no "sharks" here, so you may do better looking elsewhere.
Message: Posted by: matu (Nov 7, 2007 08:38PM)
And even if there were they would probably be not into the baSic cut or the butterfly cut :)

Expert at the Card Table by S.W Erdnase: Is worth its weight in gold, with this you can laugh at luck and defy the law of chance. Your fortune will literally be at your finger ends, and a rare opportunity to buy a copy of this precious book has arisen and I can get it you for $108.

But it will not make the innocent vicious, or transform the pastime player into a professional; or make the fool wise, or curtail the annual crop of suckers; but whatever the result may be, if it sells it will accomplish the primary motive of the seller, as he needs the money.

[/quote]Well said. It is strange that no one else mentioned Erdnase.

1. I'm usin dial- up, and it is much quicker to post than to search...you wouldn't believe... 2. false cuts have everything to do with gambling. Dealing bottoms and seconds don't help at all without false shuffles. I thought this would be the place to come to to learn the art of cheating, or at least it would be a topic here. I'm pretty sure there are sharks here, too. what about card cheat? Sounds like a sharkin' name to me.
Message: Posted by: matu (Nov 8, 2007 07:41PM)
"false cuts have everything to do with gambling" that's a very authoritative statement for someone seeking knowledge :)
It doesn't take a card shark to know what the so called "baSic cut" you referred to from youtube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Le8bcG8rJz4) has nothing to do with gambling.
It's also hypocritical to say that you don't have time to search basic thing (like where to buy a book) when you take the time to watch videos off youtube.
If you want to learn the "basics" read books written by: erdnase, scarne, ortiz, marlo, forte, ... that should keep you busy for a couple years (understand a lifetime). Most are easily found on amazon or ebay.

Acetucker doesn't seem to be as much of a newb as he'd have us think if he's got the baSic cut down.

It's all here Mr. acetucker..... If you're sincere you can read it for yourself.
Message: Posted by: acetucker (Nov 8, 2007 08:34PM)
Srry. wow, you guys really analyze these posts (matu). Wait, just because I kno the baSic cut doesn't mean I'm not a n00b. Have you even watched the vid? The cut is easy.(well, easy to learn anyway. Speed is a TOTALLY different story. BTW does this cut have another name? the baSic cut seems like it would be the standard cut that most non- card players do. And if I were to make my own variant, wat would I call it? (i'm not sure what names have been taken b/c I kno there are ALOT of cuts. Also, sos not to bother you gamblers that don't do false cuts, ive moved to the flourish section. So how do I delete this topic? I don't want to bother anybody else( my sincere apologies matu I didn't meann to waste your time, and time is valuable.)

Well I think you got enough information anyway. Reading "Would a real cheat write this?" would be wise for you, if you are serious about gambling/cheating. Here is link http://www.themagiccafe.com/forums/viewtopic.php?topic=67011&forum=2

Pavloter I appreciate you showing me love and all that good stuff but don't direct him to my stuff to read. A lot of these wanna-bees are so lazy it's a shame. So what if he has dial-up. You use what you've got to get what you want. I use dial-up and I'm not complaining. I use my phone as a modem and every minute I'm idle the mess shuts down...so what is he complaining about, he's not more special than me? He just want someone to give him something for nothing.

Picture this...if I were to make up my own variant (table cut) I wouldn't know what to call it. He sounds exactly like a magician than a hustler. If you're a hustler it doesn't matter what you call it because you're goal is to make money with it and now he has moved to the flourish section....gamblers don't flourish...not unless they're tired of living.

Pavloter you should have read through this crap like Matu did.

Take Care,

Doc

I said I'm sorry. I don't want to specialise in gambling, I want to do it all. the magic, the flourishes, the cheating and the gambling. Again, I am sincerely sorry. Thank you Pavloter for not being all hostile and crap towards me. Now... how do I delete this topic?
