I don't know what to make of it, can't really help out right now if it is legit. Seems like a great way to collect old decks for nothing then sell them as packet tricks. This was in my bulk box, but I have deleted the address that was at the end.

Dear Sir,
I am very much interested in card magic. I am living in a remote place

in India and I am not in a position to purchase the bicycle decks which

are used by magicians. I will be much obliged if you can gift me some

bicycle decks even if there are used decks.

Thanks in advance
Kumar Radhakrishnan

Reminds me of that guy in South America (?)
who would write to you every time you sold something on ebay
with a long sob story about how poor he was, sick father, etc etc
and could I send a photocopy of the Al Mann manuscript

I saw that guy on street corner once. He was holding a cardboard sign that read:

"Will do Hellstromism for food."

I told him I hid the food somewhere in the neighborhood and if he could find it, it was his.

Just had a friend come back from Gambia, probably the same conditions as it's not that far from India.

He said people there have the use of a computer but it's just one computer for the village. The connection is dial up and the village is very poor, they have dirt floors and the average person makes a dollar a day.

So..It's not like this guy is asking for money or trying to make you believe you won the lottery if you send him 50,000... it looks like the poor man just wants some used decks of cards,

If someone would please post his address I will send him a few decks and maybe a few used books For 11 dollars I can stuff an envelope full of stuff and make his dream come true, airmail.

His stage name will be KUMAR!

Thank you

I'm afraid I no longer have the address as I was not in a position to help out, and I didn't want to post it here for privacy reasons.

BTW - If we are to judge by conditions in other countries, I have several good friends who spend a lot of time in Bangladesh and have told me never to send them anything in the mail, it will never arrive.

Bottom line, I hope this is legit and that it helps out.

Great...next thing we'll hear about him performing at White Castle with an assistant named Harold LOL! :rotf:

And to anyone that doesn't get the joke, the reference was to the movie Harold and Kumar go to White Castle and the most recent one, Harold and Kumar Escape from Guantanamo Bay. Both of those movies rocked! :P

I've had this message as have about 10 other magician that I know.

I think it's genuine and he's just trying to get a load of cards for free.

I'm sure someone will send him some.

Hey guys,

I have had the pleasure of meeting a magician from India. He was a close up artist and he gave me a voodoo doll that stands up in the palm of your hand. He made it from straw. Very cool prop and I will forever own it. The guy only worked with things he had made himself or un-gimmicked coins and cards. I doubt he had ever seen an invisible deck.

Indian' don't make squat. In India that is. As I stated on another thread the company he worked for was forced to pay him a very low salary due to the Indian gov. They had too many cases where Indian' were over paid, outside of the country, and once they came home had a hard time adjusting and led to many suicides. This is why America has been outsourcing so many tech jobs there. It's cheap. I can't believe I can call an 800 number for tech advice on my cell phone and I'm talking to someone in India that speaks english as a second language. This country! Thank you Pres. Clinton for that one.

With that as my knowledge I hardly believe the guy is trying to scam anyone. He probably can't get decent cards and needs them to accomplish the tricks he has learned. So, I'm with Jay on this one. I would be happy to send him cards. Tax deduction postage and I have more than enough unused cards in my box of junk.

Walk a mile in some else shoes, then your a mile away and you still got their shoes!
