I know he is mentioned at the very beginning of this section, but I was wondering how many frequenters of the Café have read his books and if they have a favorite? and if I may add I had the priveledge of corresponding with him shortly before his retirement and he's every bit the gentleman he seems.

As a storyteller, I've used Brunvand's books extensively as a source for programs on Urban Legends.
"Curses, Broiled Again!" and "The Mexican Pet" are my favorites, but I've used all his UL collections at one time or another. "Be Afraid, Be Very Afraid" is really good for spooky material.

I'd go with his ENCYCLOPEDIA OF URBAN LEGENDS, which is a compilation of the best of his earlier books.

I have several of his books and am a fan but I can't pick a favourite either.
