Ok, so how do I go about becoming a member of this infamous body?

Cheers
Mike

MikeB,
Go to:
http://www.magician.org
and that will give you all the info you need on the IBM.
To join, you'll need two sponsors (well, one, actually) but that should be no problem (I can probably help you there).
You get the monthly Linking Ring magazine, which is arguably the best publication in magic today;
Access to the annual convention and monthly Ring meetings (assuming you are close to somewhere that has a Ring);
Access to Ring 2100, which is a daily digest on the internet;
And -- but go to the site and see for yourself.
For the money, it's a bargain; I can highly recommend it.
cheers,
Peter Marucci

Hi Mike, I agree with Peter and if a sponsor is needed, since Peter offers to be one of them, here you find the second. I may be the other sponsor. For your information.
do not be late, it takes considerable time.
Magically yours. :bubbly: :magicrabbit:

Hi all!!

I just got the Pack sent out from IBM. I have read it through, and I am interested in becoming a member. Problem is, I don't know any local ring members to co-sign!! Does anyone have any idea how I can go about this? I know Ring 102 is here in Sydney, but VERY far away from my little corner in Bondi. Any ideas?

Thanks for the ear.

Ben

Ben,
Sydney Ring 102's contact person is:
Sam Putnam
Phone: 0411-244-783
I would suggest your calling him and asking him for help/suggestions.
cheers,

Just a quick update.

Got my pack some time ago. I'm waiting for our next club meeting to check on sponsors.

Once again, Thanks for all the fish :baby:

Mike, Here in Izmır we did not have any IBM members so we did not know what to do. But the people at the IBM Headqurters are so nice they said that the sponsor should not be "necessarily" from the same area. For example one of my sponsors is Mrs. Robbie Wilmarth, whom I have never seen in person. Likewise I may offer you my name as one of the sponsors and unless I am mistaken Peter Marucci had offered his name as well. Please do not hesitate to apply and please do not be late. It takes a considerable time to become a member. The "stationary work" is just a little bit toooooo loooooooong.

Hi everyone,

I'm also interested in applying to the IBM.

I'm waiting for my information packet but I'd like to know if there are special exams to pass in order to get admitted?

Is it the role of the sponsor?

Thanks.

Earl.

Hi Earl,
As far as I know, no exams whatsoever are present. But the sponsors role is that They declare that you are invoved in magic. Please do check with the site
http://www.magician.org
for the detailed information.
Mr.Peter Marucci is one of the best persons to ask personally about it. He is a regular columnist in the Linking Ring and he writes incredible things. Since Linking Ring is only sent to the members,I know that the ones who are not members of IBM may not know about that. DO NOT waste time, go to the site to check with it. :bubbly:
