Topic: Piers - cancer |
Dear All, I was prompted my Scott's post. Just before Christmas I has my appendix out - unplanned. It had a growth which I was told yesterday was a tumour. I feel very scared and frightened. I have another operation at the end of the month, to remove part of my colon, and more tests. I often pray for people, but any prayers, private or otherwise, for me, and anyone in need would be very much appreciated. Piers. |
Piers, got you covered. And sometimes it's good to be scared. Sometimes it's only when you get scared that you can reach out to people and say, "Pray for me." |
Piers:I am very sorry to hear about your health challenge. You are definitely in my prayer's. Try to keep your thoughts as Positive as possible.Look into 'visualization techniques' to coincide with your medical treatment. At the very least it will help keep your mind calm...however,I personally believe it can enhance recovery.I have witnessed it personally...with someone close to me. Here is a link to get you started: http://tinyurl.com/7kn67h Here is another wonderful site that has a positive message to start each day: http://greatday.com/ You can also search Mr. Marstons messages by keyword. All the best. Rich |
Piers I'll be thinking of ya!Your a cool guy and I'll be sending you good thoughts from Ireland. |
Piers, all my prayers and best wishes are for you. Don't give up and stay positve. Take care, Bob. |
Dear Piers; Please don't be scared. Cancer is like a vicious dog barking and foaming at the mouth, trying to break out of that fenced in yard as you walk past. Once it knows you are fearful, it'll jump in for the kill. NEVER show fear! I don't know if you know of me or have read any of my posts? But I'm sure you will get to know that I am a tender and loving guy. I'm sure there are people here who will also tell you that I have a major attitude. (I know, go figure?!…lol) But that’s because as sweet as I am, I’m also fearless; I have NO fear because I’m on the God squad. And if God is for me who can possibly be against me?! Hang in there Piers, don’t give in. Fight and laugh in cancer’s face. You may have cancer but don’t let cancer have you. Live your life and be an inspiration to others! You are in my prayers. If you ever need someone to talk to – you know, someone with a REAL New York attitude, call me anytime. I’ll try my best to cheer you up. Heck just the stories about my crappy life alone will keep you laughing. Good luck and God bless you! |
Best thoughts coming to you! Steve |
Good thoughts going your way from me. Keep your chin up and stick to the positive. Richard |
Piers, My heart goes out to you brother. I know the fear that you are feeling, my friend. It is natural but you hang in there. There are many things that this could be, and even if it is cancer, it is not a death sentence, it is a disease. It can be beaten...people do it EVERY DAY. Keep the faith my friend. I can point you to some great resources, but we need to go one step at a time. Let's find out WHAT it is, and then WHERE it is, and where it originated. I am here for you, and there are so many good people on the Café here that will lend support. I am truly humbled by the well wishes from magi, many whom I don't know. You and I have never met, but consider me your brother. If you have questions regarding emotional issues, physical issues, or just want to talk, call on me. If you ever need a shoulder you can lean on; if you ever need a helping hand, or just a friend to talk to I will be there - I'll be there for you. I am going to be watching out for you. Keep me posted on what I can do to help and let us all know of your progress. Warmly, Scott Compton |
I'll Pray!!!! |
Pulling for you, Piers! Jim |
All the best Piers. Cheers, Chris |

Thoughts and prayers are with you Piers. It's only human to be afraid at first, but your mindset with it is important. Do like Scott and others have and fight it. It's a battle but you can win. Wishing you the best, Tom |

Piers; My wife has undergone a bout with cancer (she is doing very well) and I gave her a coffee mug which says: Cancer, you picked on the wrong !@#$%"!! My prayers are that cancer has again selected the wrong target |
God bless you Piers! Stay strong, you are in my prayers! Joe |
THANK YOU. Thank you, Thank you. I am at home now. My colonoscopy and CT scan were clear. My operation to remove part of my colon meant I was in hospital for 10 days. I lost a lot of blood - I was VERY scared - I prayed alot, for me and others. Now I have 2 Ops to recover from. I am very tired, and await further results. Having my metal staples out was not fun. I now hope that all the cancer has been removed. My BEST wishes to all. These things put health and life into perspective. Piers. |
That sounds like good news Piers! Keep your spirits up and may God bless you!!! Good to hear from you. Scott |
Yes, keep your spirts up. Ken Klosterman went through similar stuff and is doing great now. Don't give up. Scott, glad things are going well for you also. Richard |
Hi Piers, Just saw this thread and am sending you my best wishes for your recovery. Best, Scott |

Hi Piers, Hoping you are coming along nicely with post. op.. Get better soon! Warmest regards, Sixten & family. |
Continued best wishes Piers.Keep up the spirits. |
Thank you. In about 2 weeks time I start 18 weeks of chemotherapy. I feel rather daunted by it, but know it is for the best. Best wishes to all, and especially to anyone feeling lonely or scared. Piers. |
Piers, stay strong. You'll probably feel like crap and have to vomit a lot. Your energy will be sucked right out of you. You'll have some good days, but a hell of a lot of bad days. And when you have one of those bad days, go to the computer and post it here, and we'll try to give you an energy boost. The single coolest thing about magic is that it really, truly is a fraternity. As I said, come back on those bad days, and we'll prove it to you. And on the good days, let us know, and we'll all feel a bit better. |
Piers, I am currently undergoing chemo myself. I have completed one round - 3 more to go. I have a round a month, and mine is strong. Stoney is right, you will have good and bad days, but they can control the nausea much better now. Make sure you get Emend - it is a lifesaver. You will have many more good days than bad. Please let me know how I can help. Scott |
Piers, Where was I these past two months? You are, of course, in my thoughts and prayers. Keep a positive outlook and listen to the guys here on the Café who have (or had) cancer and are delaing with it. They are giving words of wisdom. Staying positive is so very important. The right mental attitude will help you very very much during these trying times. Best, Mike |
Good Luck to you! Your in our thoughts! |
I Just offered a prayer on your behalf brother. Let us know (if you're feeling up to it) how the chemo is going. I read in your LJ post that you'll be starting chemo next week. God Bless You Brother! I wish you a speedy recovery. |
Just saw this thread. Piers, All my hopes and prayers to you for a speedy and full recovery. Please let us know how its going if you can. You are in my thoughts, Tim |
Thank you. Week 1. Feel sick, tired, despondent. The sun is shining. Bless us all. Piers. |
Hang in there Piers...it gets better. I am in the middle of round 2... Bless you, my friend! |
Keep on going piers... my mum had cancer for two years, chemo is a necessary evil, she got through it all, and you have to remain positive as it will absolutely work real wonders I promise... you know what was weird? after she lost her hair, got better and it grew back, her hair went back to the brunette she was, no grey hairs appeared for a good 9 months or so! She lost a lot of blood too, in some ways that helped, as she had transfusions of "fresh" healthy blood in return to help boost her system... you need to take care of yourself mentally and physically...remember still to have some fun each day, however you chose to... plenty of fruit, veg and mentalism mate! |
Piers, With your tenacity you'll do just fine. Good luck! Steve |
Thank You. Starting my 2nd cycle of 6 today. Yikes! :( Piers. |
I was just thinking about you today my friend. Wanted to hop on and see how things are going with the Chemo. What a horrid drug! I'm really looking forward to a few months from now when I can read your post titled "Cancer Free!" Until then, you have my daily thoughts. Keep kicking butt, Jeff |

Got time for an update Piers? I think of you often and have been praying for you brother! Scott |
Gosh, Scott, I pray for you pretty much every night. I am just coming to the end of my 2nd 3 week cycle. The worst things are the tiredness and nausea ( + all the other stuff ). I will then have 4 more cycles. So almost at week 6 of 18. It seems so long, so daunting, yet I know I have MUCH to be grateful for. And great friends and support here too. My ( quiet ) faith helps alot. Best wishes to us all. Piers. |
How are things, Scott? I start cycle 4 of 6 on Tuesday :( Best to ALL, Piers. |

Scott, I'm VERY happy for you - a hero. On Emend now - will see how it goes... Best, Piers. |
Emend rocks! I also took Compazine and Zolfan. You might want to try them. You can use them with the Emend. I took them in between treatments. Let no one be fooled, chemo is some rough stuff. Good luck my friend and keep us updated. Scott |

I'll have my fingers crossed tomorrow. All day long. OK, not really. I'll kinda be thinking "my fingers are crossed for Piers" several times tomorrow, you know, without actually physically doing it or anything. Wow. The honesty bug has hit me hard this morning. |

Hello, A short note to say I am very relieved that my recent CT Scan at the Mount Vernon Cancer Centre, ‘was fine’. This is a significant event that should mean no more treatment, just regular checks. Thank you for all your support. Piers. http://www.justgiving.com/piers-cancer-fund/ |
