Greetings Café,

I wanted to share with all my escape buddies a video of me performing the straitjacket escape with Tony Curtis on June 13-09. Also, many thanks to Cliff for his help throughout the day and Joe fox for calming my nervous and giving me some great advice.

How this event came about:
At the Million Dollar Theater, downtown Los Angeles, California, I performed two escapes with 1950’s movie actor Tony Curtis - Straitjacket escape and a water escape.  The stunts and a screening of the classic movie Houdini, were a part of "Magic of Tony Curtis," an event sponsored by the The Jules Verne Festival and the L.A. Historic Theatre Foundation.  I.E. They award Mr. Curtis with an award.

The straitjacket escape was part of the VIP dinner at the Los Angeles Athletic Club.
Mr. Curtis strapped me into the jacket and watched the entire time. OHH he signed the jacket after the performance. Which is a great prize to me at this time.

For some of you maybe wondering. Mr. Curtis is a great guy to work with, very enjoyable and still a big flirt with the women. He asked for my two assistants numbers... :)

Here is the link to the SJ video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GiLEmDzZSHI

The water escape video is still being edited. Should have that in a month or two. However photos can be viewed on my site http://www.CurtisLovell.com and click on past stunts link.

Wow, what a great story. Just a quick question, did you perform the straight jacket like he did in the movie with a very intense look on your face while standing? I've always enjoyed that part in the movie.

What exactly was stenciled on the upper front of the jacket?

Yes, I had my "Houdini" moments while performing the SJ escape.
