The literature is replete with methodology, for those unable to really read minds.

At a recent mentalist show, the performer did the usual "stand in front of the audience and reveal personal info" bit. Most of the audience gasped in amazament, forgetting that they had written this stuff down on clipboards provided to them as they entered the theater.

It got me to thinking, what are some other methods of getting information to be revealed later in a show, e.g. birthdate, mother's maiden name, the stuff you're not supposed to know?

You've got a lot of homework to do Rob.Read everything you can about mentalism and in time your knowledge about this unusual form of entertainment will take shape. There is no quickie way to learn this seemingly simple, yet difficult craft.I wish you well in your travels and as always,
Best thoughts,

...besides, may I recommend direct questions for methods be posed in the Secret Sessions.

Mage928 and Ford Kross have hit the nail on the head. There is no quick way to be a good mentalist. One really needs to study the literature and take it one step at a time.

It involves a lot more than using a clipboard.

Are you asking so that you can actually learn the technique and develop good mentalism technique or are you asking as a magician because you want to know where the info came from?

:(

I apologize to one and all. In my haste (and haze) to post this subject, I completely came off as "asking for secrets." That is not the case.

Please allow me to retract the query as written and try to figure out just what it is I want to know. Sometimes I'm better off lurking than posting, simply because my posts always seem to become misconstrued.

Rob,
When you figure out exactly what you want to know drop me a line and perhaps I can put you in the right direction for learning it. If you have a sincere interest in developing mentalism - that is one thing, just wanting to know a secret is another. I for one would be happy to help someone out that sincerely wants to learn and develop a good mentalism philosophy.
PSIncerely Yours,
