Topic: Smoke for Illusion
Message: Posted by: hocuspocusjay23 (Apr 14, 2010 03:18PM)
Hello, I am performing the Bride of Blades Illusion this year at a theme park. I am wanting to add some smoke when the box is opened to show the girl has vanished. I had thought to use a small fog machine, however you have to deal with the plug. A flash pot would dangerous for the girl. Has anyone used some smoke in a can, like the smoke used for Axtell dragon puppet? Let me know what you guys think.

Thanks so much

Jay, a flash pot is out of the question. Any device contained within a box has the potential to become explosive .. no joke.

What you're looking for is the "Smoke in a Can." I've seen this used in various illusion to get the desired effect you're looking for. Give it a shot .. it an inexpensive solution.

Leave the pyro to the pros ...

If your assistant is working in a confined area with the smoke, I'd definitely rule out the smoke cup/cartridge. It's not good for breathing...probably won't kill you but I'd go with a non-ignited product for sure.

This is true, I'm not sure,, ive always used the smoke cups with no problems, but this was not in a confined space.

Antari sells small smoke machines which runs on battery.
You might wanna try Dan Sylvester's Volcano.

Just had another thought. How about connecting those smoke thingy for toy trains around the inside perimeter of the box and have the assistant turn them on? It will look like the whole interior is filled with smoke.

The Seuthe smoke units will put forth a LOT of smoke, depending on the model selected.

The Tiny fogger is the PERFECT solution for this problem, it's only real restriction is the price.

I have worked with many of these units and they are great!
