I just spoke with Michael. As I write this, Jason is in the process of taping his segment. Michael tapes his in two hours then flies off to France for 24 days. The producers agreed to tape him out of order for his appearance on Friday. Watch for several items from Michael's current lecture in the segment including a variation on "Sheer Surprise." I'll leave the rest out for now to let it be a surprise in and of itself. Congrats Michael!

As promised above, I have just posted our chat with Shawn Farquhar and Christopher Hart. In addition to many other topics, we talk to Shawn about being asked to be a part of Letterman's Magic Week, why he passed on the opportunity and what they asked of him when they called. We are also joined by surprise guest Christopher Hart.

Enjoy :: http://bit.ly/SFandCH

Did anyone notice the other magician on Letterman last night that seemed a bit Lost? http://www.bit.ly/brZiw0

I thought that Carney did a very nice job in spite of the challenges of unexpected camera angles and such. Even Dave seemed to enjoy it and didn't get in the way too much.

And, to top it off, apparently the newly crowned Miss USA is looking for a studly magician boyfriend!

I thought Carney did a great job. I'm looking forward to the rest of the week.

Thanks for the links, will check them out when I get home. Had never heard of Jason Randall until your links the other day. Watched all his previous stuff from letterman and really liked his style. The only thing I didn't like is when he kept saying "This is a normal deck", but hey, didn't seem to affect his performance.

Nice job done by all, but Johnny Ace Palmer really set the bar.

Forgot to mention that all of the performances so far are viewable now at http://www.MagicNewswire.com!

I agree that Johnny Ace Palmer really set the bar. I recorded Letterman because he is on well past my bed time. I could not see the deposit of chicks at all. The guy must be a Magician. Just terrific.

As promised, I have just posted my chat with David Kaye, Dan White & Jonathan Bayme. Why am I posting this in the middle of David Letterman's Magic Week? Because they were all involved in working with Steve (and Michael Ammar) as they developed the material that we've been enjoying on THe Late Show.

As I write this, we are right at one hour from show time. Spend the next 20 minutes getting an insider's look at what goes into a performance in this venue.

Steve Cohen's set was outstanding.

Paul Shaffer should be chained to a water pipe until the magic sets are finished. He has stepped on every routine climax this week.

Michael did a very nice job and Letterman seemed to have a good time. Several pieces from his lecture as he mentioned when I spoke to him after the taping on Monday. I won't reveal any more so that the West Coast viewers can enjoy it fresh.

I couldn't agree more. It has been a great week for close-up magic, and magic in general. I also agree with Richard and hope that something positive will come of several outstanding performances by some of the top performers in our art.

Don't forget that Steve will be joining us on This Week in Magic this Sunday Night. He'll be jopined by my regural co-hosts as well as Dan White, Jonathan Bayme & David Kaye. David worked closely with Steve. Dan and Jonathan worked with both Michael and Steve to prepare for this appearance.

To wrap our archiving of the event, we've posted the video or Michael's appearance last night. For those that missed it, or for those that want to watch them all over and over again, here it is:

Thanks! That was a really great set! Someone had commented that the final "vanish" was not strong enough to be a closer, but I think they are wrong. That was a perfect closer!! It had Letterman actually laughing honestly. What better impression can you leave with someone? He called it the stupidest trick he'd ever seen, but I think he loved that it cracked him up.

Bravo, Michael Ammar!!!

To wrap up our coverage of Late Night with David Letterman's Close-up Magic week, we invited Steve Cohen to be our guest on the most recent episode of "This Week in Magic." In addition Jonathan Bayme and David Kaye are with us to discuss their involvement with the various performers featured this week. We also are joined by a Mystery Guest at the end of the podcast who also performed this week on Letterman. Enjoy!! http://www.bit.ly/TWiMCohen
