Topic: Aldo and Rachel Colombini need our help!
Message: Posted by: KyleMacNeill (Jun 1, 2010 02:45AM)
Hi all.

As you may know, sadly Rachel Colombini, the wife of Aldo Colombini, has contracted an infection, and needs $200,000.00 for heart surgery. As well as donating here: http://www.magic4miracles.com/story_2.html and buying some of Aldo's material here: http://www.wildcolombini.com/cart/ , I thought that as magicians, we could all join forces; each submit a trick, and compile all the tricks into one Ebook. We could then sell this Ebook, and ALL the money made from selling it can be donated to Aldo and Rachel. Please PM me or post in this thread if you are interested in helping out Rachel and Aldo.

We hope you recover soon Rachel,
Best wishes to both of you,

Kyle MacNeill

Good thought Kyle.

Yes, let’s all get together and do our bit. This is OUR small family. Let us all act quickly and help in the best possible way.

Thank you.

:xmas:
P.S. Rachel, hope you recover soon. Our prayers are with you.

Hi all!

Please tell me if you are interested in submitting a trick! :)
Once we get a good 30 magicians willing to submit, we can start work on the book! :)
And thanks Ustaad! :)

Thanks and best regards,

Hi all!

Thanks so much for all the interest guys! :)
And the PMs as well!
Please keep it up - we need to help Rachel out! :)
I've had one idea for the name of the book - 'Wild at heart'.
This is because Rachel's maiden name is Wild, they've always seemed like fun magicians, and because we are raising money so that Rachel can have heart surgery.
What do people think of this name?

Please help us out, and thanks again to everyone that has already shown interest! :)

Thanks and best regards,

Kyle MacNeill

All the earnings are going to go to Rachel and Aldo. :)

Having been through the tragedy of having a wife with a medical heart condition, who passed away, hearing this absolutely touched me in a very tender place. I can feel Aldo's pain.

I think every one of us is feeling this in our own hearts for Aldo and his wife.

Lybrary does a great job but the royalty they pay per sale is pretty low. It would be nice to see all the $$ go to Aldo's family.

But regardless, Ill put a link up to wherever.

Kyle, I have a banner at the top of my Sefalaljia website that I made from the Lybrary.com banner promoting the book I have on Lybrary. Take a look at it and we can do something like that and spread it around. We'd have to sell 10,000 ebooks to get the $200k but that might be possible with the right promotion.
Message: Posted by: KyleMacNeill (Jun 5, 2010 11:49AM)
I've PMed you! :)
Message: Posted by: Voldemort (Jun 5, 2010 12:04PM)
There have been quite a few donations made as well and I myself and I'm sure others have bought a few things from Aldo and Rachel's site too. So maybe (Hopefully) you won't need to sell quite 10,000 to make the $200k. But you'll probably still need to sell quite a few. I'm telling everyone I know about the book coming out and what its for and I've gotten a good response. I encourage everyone to take a minute at your local magic shop and tell people about whats going on and maybe your shop will allow you to put up a flyer. Word of mouth is great promotion too.

Great job so far everyone! I actually can't wait to read the e-book as well! I'm sure it will be great and its for a great cause.

Your doing a great thing Kyle!

Folks, something has to be said here, because I am really impressed how 13 year old Kyle is taking initiative and leading an incredible project to raise money for Aldo. The size of this thread alone is impressive.

Just to confirm what Kyle wrote earlier, 100% of sales goes to Aldo. I am not deducting anything, no credit card charges, Paypal fees, nothing. It is as good as a donation. Every dime will get to Aldo and Rachel. I am simply helping Kyle to be successful with his fundraiser. Rachel and Aldo are great people, and we need to help out some great friends! :)
Contributors include Gary Jones, Cameron Francis, Jeff Prace, David Gemmell and Ben Harris.
Also, the book will be updated tomorrow with contributions from Rick Maue, Bill Montana and maybe Alan Rorrison!

I have one big request to all of you. When you hit the conventions this summer please tell your friends and colleagues about this fundraising ebook. If anybody is in the administration of one of the upcoming conventions perhaps 2 minutes can be spared for a special announcement for the Colombinis and point people to their donation website and this ebook.

And you can be quite 'selfish' because this ebook holds some hard hitting miracles. Even if the name Colombini doesn't ring a bell, or if you are not in a giving mood, this ebook stands by itself as an unbelievable bargain for any magician who wants to learn new secrets.

Let's move this ticker up. We are off to a good start. The ticker is in real time. As soon as another sale has been made the total will go up by $20. A big thank you to all who are helping:

3) Link to the ebook and donation page or provide other PR support.
4) Contribute additional effects for an updated edition.

If Kyle is the future of magic, then I think all of us can agreee on one thing (and in the Café, that isn't magic--it's a miracle)--our art, passion, vocation, advocation...whatever...will be entrusted to amazing hands and, more importantly, hearts!

Kyle, your actions don't require and skills in cold reading to tell what kind of person you are. Bravo!

I will certainly be buying and I hope enough members do the same.

In fact, instead of merely thanking someone in the Forum for being of great help (a fantastic suggestion, an excellent review or mention , whatever)why not thank them by buying a copy of the book in their honor or, if you already have one, simply by making a donation in that persons honor to Rachel since there is a mechanism set up for that. That's a thanks that gets a thanks back in return. You were helped and someone else was as well.

That, my friends, is truly magic, and here I break the Magician's Code--the secret to that magic is concern, compassion and love!

I don't have much many magic friends. (except all of you at the Café). So I took the privilege and spread the word to my non magic friends and colleagues that I am trying to raise fund for one of my close friend (as they wouldnt be aware) and, though Aldo and Rachel are like my "guru's" and I have never even met them. If at least one of them donates I would have done what I can.
With prayers....

As well as donating here: http://www.magic4miracles.com/story_2.html and buying some of Aldo's material here: http://www.wildcolombini.com/cart/ , I thought that as magicians, we could all join forces; each submit a trick, and compile all the tricks into one Ebook. The whole world loves Rachel Wild Colombini!

To help her with her heart valve replacement, over 400 people from 21 countries have made donations--people from Australia, Austria, Canada, Chile, China, Cyprus, Estonia, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Hungary, India, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Netherlands, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Thailand, the United States of America, and the United Kingdom.

(And that doesn't even count the over 400 people who have bought the special Wild at Heart eBook that you can buy right here!)

The countries with the most donors are USA, France, and Spain. Or if you prefer the countries which have the most donors adjusted by population, then the countries are Cyprus, Spain, and Estonia.

In the USA, the states with the most donors are Florida, California, and Texas. Or, adjusted by population, the top states are Hawai'i, Maryland, and Arizona.

If you haven't donated yet, you can raise your country's unofficial total by donating right here.

I will be able to give you more details as they are available to me but surgery went well. I realized one thing: If I did not have a heart attack today....I will never have it. Wow....what a day...what a tension....
Rachel was great, strong and always positive. After 45 minutes from surgery she was already breathing alone without help from machines, tubes, etc. Amazing.
Please bear with me at this time and keep Rachel and myself in your thoughts and prayers.
Love to all, Aldo

More great news Rachel is up and walking so the doctors might let her leave the hospital on Saturday but she did say it feels like a truck hit her. Thank you for your prayers and donations

From Rachel, Sat. Nov 27

"Hi everyone, I got home (apt in NYC) about 1 hour ago, thanks to all your thoughts and prayers and Aldo's dedicated patience and love. I have to admit that I feel like I have been hit by a truck. It was an ordeal that I wouldn't wish on my worst enemy, but the surgeons and staff certainly did their magic..."

the whole note is posted on her Facebook page.

So glad to hear that it sounds like things are going well. I bought the book and have encouraged others to, but are there any updates on how the finances are working out? Do they still need some fundraising efforts to pay some bills?
