Topic: Buying & Selling Tenyo
Message: Posted by: edshern (Jun 12, 2010 01:24PM)
Angelo posted a note on one of the other threads about creating a separate topic on buying/selling Tenyo tricks here in the forum.
I thought it a great idea and thought I would open up this thread to see what everyone else thought about this.
And,,,, if everyone else thinks it's a good idea, how do we get it done?
Message: Posted by: stereo (Jun 12, 2010 03:58PM)
Sure it's very good idea ! I agree :P
Message: Posted by: oombob (Jun 12, 2010 05:30PM)
Would be great.
Message: Posted by: oombob (Jun 13, 2010 12:30AM)
I have posted the suggestion of adding a buying and selling forum that is exclusively Tenyo to the "I want to see the manager section" :

Those interested.... please follow suit!

I've sent two e-mails regarding this to Steve Brooks the last couple of months, never got an answer ... .
Needless to say I would like this too :)
Message: Posted by: Angelo Carbone (Jun 13, 2010 09:58AM)
When I get my list sorted out I will post on here.

Okay, let's start over...

What if anyone who has something to offer (and I mean not only 1 used Crystal Cleaver) starts his own thread here.
It would be labelled e.g. in my case "Nicolino's Tenyo offering and searching list", and everyone here concerned with Tenyo (actually only a handful of great people who mostly know each other anyways) can publish her or his list.

At the end of the post it should be stated:
All inquiries only by PM! Don't reply to this thread in order to keep it edible!

This way everyone is enabled to keep her or his list fresh and updated.

Do you think such a thing would be moved/deleted by the mods? On the other hand - why not simply try?

Looking forward to your thoughts about my idea... :)
Message: Posted by: Nicolino (Jul 15, 2010 04:00AM)
Okay, forget it - I just found that editing is only possible within 30 minutes after posting.
****, I thought it would be different!
Message: Posted by: edshern (Jul 15, 2010 10:15AM)
I posted a message to management too. No answer.
But, Nicolino's idea to post here is a simple solution.
I know I have 10-15 tricks (nothing very rare) that I will try to put here as soon as I get some time.
Anybody looking to sell, Post here, buyers PM.
Message: Posted by: Nicolino (Jul 15, 2010 01:39PM)
The problem is IMHO that

the thread might be moved to Sales section (which isn't available to newer members) by the moderators

and that sold/withdrawn items cannot be deleted from the list.
Nonetheless, it may be worth a try...

Does anyone disagree?
Message: Posted by: oombob (Jul 16, 2010 01:34AM)
Here's my idea... why not use this thread to simply notify others when you are posting a Tenyo item or items for sale in the conventional "Let's make a magic deal!"
section of the Café.

Hi ...oombob here... I am posting the following Tenyo items for sale in the "Let's make a magic deal!" section. See you there!

We can also use this very same thread for requests for wanted Tenyo items.

Hi ...oombob here... would saw off a generous portion of my anatomy if someone could sell me a Tenyo mini-zag.

Hi oombob.... nicolino here. I have fifteen of these mint in the box. PM me for details...

or alternatively...

Hi oombob.... just posted one of these beauties in the "Let's make a magic deal!" section. See you there!

Let me know your thoughts!

Message: Posted by: stereo (Jul 16, 2010 08:46AM)
Lol I like it the part whit Nicolino ...

Mini zag is great for package and idea but effect is no easy to perfom and I don't understand why tenyo Did not allow the blue lid to turn at 360 degres :(
Message: Posted by: Nicolino (Jul 16, 2010 11:31AM)
Funny thing is, Stereo: I really DO have such a box - in fact, it contains only 12 mint items as this was the quantity Tenyo packed their delaer's boxes with. This is intended to be "the provision for my old age" one fine day :)

I just don't know how on earth oombob was to know this...????
Message: Posted by: oombob (Jul 16, 2010 01:36PM)
You guys are my Tenyo heroes... I hope to build a collection that someday compares. Sometimes hard to justify to my wife why I want to keep spending money on these "strange plastic toys". :crazydude:
Message: Posted by: Nicolino (Jul 16, 2010 03:11PM)
Don't worry - one might think there is hardly ANY hobby that our beloved females would really and totally appreciate - be it costly, weird or time-comsuming (or everything together, like magic...) LOL
Message: Posted by: stereo (Jul 16, 2010 04:14PM)
Oombob I have allready sent to you what we spoke ;o)
Message: Posted by: oombob (Jul 18, 2010 10:42PM)
Nicolino... I totally agree... magic is costly, weird and time consuming. Love it.

Stereo, you are the best. Thanks man.... I totally appreciate it!
Message: Posted by: Nicolino (Jul 19, 2010 02:45AM)
Okay, I'll start here and post what I have (among others, however, these are the more sought after items IMHO) as duplicate in 100% mint and unused condition.

In case anyone is interested please send me a PM with an appropriate offer:

Metal Matrimony

Twister

Eye of the Idol

Tricky Business

Mystery China Box

Future Clock

Mystic Blackboard

Mindscanner

This is a good idea. Be interested if the forum moderators will allow it once they see it. I know that I got scolded for posting a mention of my eBay auctions but maybe they'll allow forum sales to go on from here.

Good idea to mention people that we can ´recommend´ to eachother for selling/trading/buying items :)
I can certainly recommend these forum members (I really hope I didn´t forget anybody, some trading/selling was quite some time ago!) - and actually these are the only members of this forum where I traded with or sold/bought items from; gives a good idea of the quality of the Tenyo-forum-members here ;).

Of course in random order:

J M Talbot
magic patagonia

My son and I have been on a "Tenyo journey" last couple months. His love of anything out of Japan (ie Nintendo, etc) translates to magic as well.

Two of the best guys we dealt with are right here on the Café Killertweety and Nicolino. They are both highly knowledgeable and are great resources for everything Tenyo. My transactions with them were outstanding and I highly recommend both to anyone looking to buy, trade or just talk Tenyo.
Message: Posted by: Nicolino (Feb 3, 2011 03:00PM)
Thanks for your nice words! It was great to deal with you, too!
I'm sure David will jump in and say thank you as well as soon as he reads your post!!

It's great to have a strong Tenyo community here...!

(By the way, anyone interested in my current sales list please drop me a line - I have a new batch of mint vintage Tenyos like Fantastica, Mindscanner, Mind Spinner and many more!)

I didn't know where to write this, but is anyone else having troubles using Angelo Carone's site http://www.tenyoworld.co.uk/ ... ?

If so, Angelo, what's happening ... ?
Message: Posted by: J M Talbot (Feb 18, 2011 11:42AM)
Yes, I have had issues on the site as well.

Message: Posted by: xl18 (Feb 18, 2011 11:50AM)
I haven't been able to get to the Tenyoworld home page for a while now either although the individual pages are still there such as http://www.tenyoworld.co.uk/Effects%20Index%20Page.htm and http://www.tenyoworld.co.uk/gallery.htm
Message: Posted by: stereo (Feb 19, 2011 10:15AM)
Yes the same for me :(

Now I have to report unfortunately a negative transaction.

I have never posted a negative buying review such as this on the café and if it is against café policy it should be immediately removed.

Your “mileage may vary” of course, but I don’t want anyone to have a repeat of the buying experience I had with Ebay/online seller Steenschmidt from Denmark. First off his prices are enormously high compared with anyone else I’ve seen on or off Ebay.

A google search with my son for Tenyo Crystal Pyramid should never have even landed me on an Ioffer page for what I now know is “Mystery Pharaoh”, apparently a Chinese made version of the genuine Tenyo Crystal Pyramid. If you didn’t know that this or any other Tenyo item was produced by another company, you of course wouldn’t be expecting or looking for any disclaimer stating it was SIMILAR to the real Tenyo item. In similar fashion while watching a magic card trick you wouldn’t be looking for or expecting a DF card if you didn’t even know one could exist.

I didn’t know a Chinese version even existed, and as the seller obviously knew this…he didn’t warn me about it until AFTER the item was shipped. Then the item arrived damaged…a wire necessary for the modus operandi was sticking out. Did the seller know about this in advance? Or was it damaged due to the soft bubble wrap envelope it was sent in? Not one Tenyo item we’ve bought over the past months has EVER been sent in anything other than a box. For all the high priced items this seller ships this is especially surprising and is inexusable for an overseas shipment.

Yes I did receive a refund, but only after paying about $10 to return the damaged unworkable item to the seller in Denmark. Oh and by the way, where was the “free trick” that was also advertised on the Ioffer page? That never arrived either!

So, I’m sure many have had positive dealings with Steen Schmidt, but I can only make future buyers aware based on my personal experience

Thanks for letting us know!!
(Although personally I have always been irritated by his aggresive kind of "advertising")
Message: Posted by: towledge (Mar 5, 2011 12:24AM)
Your welome. It was quite an ordeal.
Message: Posted by: stereo (Mar 5, 2011 08:25AM)
What annoys me is my headline on ebay like "Fabulous Magic trick (NOT TENYO)"

Message: Posted by: Killertweety (Mar 8, 2011 07:42AM)
Hehe yes indeed Stereo, there are a few people advertising like that in the hope of attracting more potential buyers. Very lame imho.

I've begun to upload some items I have for sale on http://www.65roses.de

Will add more items like Future Clock, Quicksilver, Dracula Bank, Credit Slasher, Metal Matrimony etc. when I have the time so you'll only find a starting inventory currently...

Thanks for looking! :)

Just finished a very pleasant transaction with Nicolino. I HIGHLY recommend buying Tenyo magic from him. Here are some things I noted:

Fast shipping
Very well packed
Excellent communication
Items exactly as described or better
No nonsense

I'll definitely be buying more magic from you Nicolino!

Message: Posted by: med_doc7 (May 7, 2011 12:07AM)
I also want to commend Nicolino for a fantastic Tenyo transaction completed a few months ago. He was extremely gracious and willing to please at all times and above all else ethical and honest. Would do business with him again and again. Despite it being an international transaction (Germany to USA), mine was complicated by the United States Postal Service without fault whatsoever to Nicolino. Can you believe the item was lost for 2 months, even though we both could track it to Boston (where I live)- and yet the Boston post office lost it for 2 months. Not surprising, even though they claim through rain, snow etc.

2 months later, the package shows up in excellent condition! Superbly packed, still sealed- the item still in perfect, unused mint condition.

Way to go, Nicolino you get an A+. Looking forward to a future transaction.

United States Post Office, your grade is far worse. Not looking forward to a future transaction, even though I get many each week.

The moral of the story: One can choose his/her vintage Tenyo supplier who provides outstanding service. The same cannot be said for the more than two-century old governmental organization.
