Hey everyone, My corporate site has been up for a long time but I have a fairly new site for Kid Magic and would love any feedback you have. It isn't completely done but I don't think websites really ever get finished, just further away from being "under construction" perhaps.

Let me know what you think, good bad or ugly. Thanks in advance,

Keir

Hi,
Had a quick look through.
Very nice looking site. Professional.
I have one suggestion which I believe will make a massive difference in the results that you will generate with this site: replace the cartoon image of a magician (in the header) to a great picture of you.
Its a matter of creating a brand for yourself. Its about allowing your potential client to fall in love with you. Its about them meeting the real person behind the magician title.
The cartoon image says generic magician and I don't think you would want to be perceived as such.
A related topic on branding yourself: your name shows up in no areas of high visibility. Your name does show up in the next but your name is not a familiar name to me and, at first, I thought it was some sort of mis-spelling. Having your name (along with the picture) in the header will be an important part of building your brand.

Thanks for your input Scott, I actually do this intentionally (sorry if I had thought about it I would have mentioned it upfront) because I have a corporate site also and I am of the firm belief that if corporate clients see you doing kid's shows that they will move on very quickly. So I am trying to keep a healthy balance.

Great observation though and I greatly appreciate your thoughts...

Great sit Keir! My only suggestion is on your birthday party page you list out your packages with prices. I would drop the prices off and just list the package.

Hi Kier,
I'll try to be constructive so please don't take as critisism.

You've used that stock cartoon image as a header... whats wrong with the great picture of you on the enviromental page holding the blocks, the letters could easily have been changed to say your name or the sites name.

Not keen on the bouncing flash header on every page change that could annoy after a few clicks.

Maybe spread the photos out through the site instead of having a flash gallery... as we all know ipads/iphones are not fans of flash.

There seems to be a lot of white space at bottom.

I think you could make the main body text a couple of points bigger.

You have some great promo photos which could surely be used better ?
Hope this is ok?
Feel free to PM me and I can quickly knock a mock up to show what I mean.
Cheers,
Ade

Thanks for your input Ade, I am working on getting a photo gallery put together similar to the ones on the "Balloon Art" page to organize my magic pics so that should be done in the near future. As for the ipad/iphone issue, we are slowly backing everything up with a static photo gallery so that the site is more "non-computer" friendly. As of now the only thing that does not show up on my ipod touch (essentially an iphone) is the video and the photo gallery of the balloon art and soon the balloon art will have static pics that show for anyone who cannot see the flash.

As for the white space and the text body, these will get cleaned up a little more in the coming months when I back in Denver but I appreciate you pointing them out.

The cartoon image and the lack of any image of me on my home page is addressed earlier in this thread. I guess I could get an icon of a magician that looks more like me although to be honest I probably won't do it as I kind of like the anonymity of this one due to the corporate client factor addressed above and the possibility of corporate clients searching "Denver Magician" and simply stumbling onto both of my sites.

Paddy, I have changed my pricing/packages structure to reflect the birthday party packages with out the pricing so check it out and let me know what you think...

Thanks to everyone for their feedback!

Hi Keir,

I like your site, it looks fun, and for the market you're going after I think that's a good thing.

My only suggestion would be adding an e-mail and name capture form on the top right-hand side of the main page - just a little box.

Perhaps you could have a birthday club or a special announcement list, anything, but I would add something to collect names and e-mails for a sequenced follow-up series later.

Hey Keir,

Here are my thoughts, I thinks the site looks good. below are a few things that I would do.

Use a larger font.

On your home page it looks like you only do birthday parties. Do you do Scout Banquets, Libraries, Parks and Rec Family shows?

I would have a few more photos on the home page, perhaps a view from back stage with a happy audience. Keeping your anonymity.

I like to have my phone number on every page, and email option. I never like to search a web site to find a phone number. I would have your phone number at the top of every page.

I do not like the bouncing tabs, kinda hard to click on.

I love your video. I would have your phone number and website at the end. If some one emails it to some one else, how do they contact you.

From your video it looks like you put on a good show. I wish you good luck.

Gordon

Very nice and eye catching.

Thanks to the last three posters... I won't address all the ideas written above but I think there is merit to most of what you are saying though and some of the things mentioned were already on my "to do" list (or should I say "to have done" list) but I think it is good to hear what people have to say even if it is already in the works.

I like the email capture ideas also and may add that feature also.

Thanks again!

Keir
