Topic: Tommy Wonder Exposure on Youtube
Message: Posted by: Andrew Zuber (Nov 22, 2010 07:06AM)
Some fool has just posted ten of the explanation sections of Tommy's Visions of Wonder DVDs on Youtube. I've emailed L&L about it as it seems like you can't flag a video on Youtube for copyright infringement unless you're the actual copyright holder. If you guys have other ideas, feel free to chime in!

I haven't posted the link because I don't want any more exposure than there already is.

Fool is right- some people are pathetic in their need to feel important. Let's hope L&L takes some action...

The best thing to do is contact L&L through their YouTube account:

A different person, not at L&L, takes care of that for them.

Thanks Domino - I just sent them a message through their Youtube account as well. :)

L&L said they contacted Youtube - not sure how long it takes them to respond to this stuff, but the videos are still up and the guy decided to start leaving rather nasty comments on MY page, so here...have at 'em :)

Normally can take two to 24 hours. Thanks for looking out. Youtube will pull it when a copyright claim is submitted. (normally)

I just got a message saying these videos had been removed. The folks at L&L were nice enough to follow up with me and let me know they'd been taken off the site. First class all the way, as usual :)

I'm sure this problem is over and I don't want to put more fuel to te fire, but; ¿isnt ironic that you are complaining that some guy infringed some copyrights of L&L while you, on the other hand, uploaded 4 complete albums of diferents singers to your youtube account?

just saying...

Fernando,

Out of all the subjects one could be contributing to on The Magic Café, it seems a bit strange that this is your first post. Be that as it may, you are incorrect in your post about Andrew. Andrew's YouTube account doesn't contain that. Where you are confused is that the YouTube link he provided above is not to his account, it's the guy who infringed on the Tommy Wonder videos.

Next time, before you make an accusation, double check your facts.

Thanks for that, Domino. Couldn't have said it better myself :)

All the Best,

The latest exposure of Tommy Wonder's material that I've noticed comes from Frank Bemelman , who has posted the instructional video which reveals the method and performance details of Tommy Wonder's modified zombie .
I won't post the link , but anyone who wants to will find it by searching on YT. In the comments below the video many people objected to the exposure . Frank's response to the magicians asking that the video be removed or edited to only show the performance section (not revealing the method) was blunt:
"This video will not be edited or removed. It is not a problem to share it in this form, on this platform. End of discussion." -Frank Bemelman
He has since censored (deleted) all the comments from people who objected to him exposing his brother's magic . Legally he is the person in control of the 'Tommy Wonder Estate' , so maybe he is within his legal rights to post it , but could Frank honestly make the case that Tommy would be ok with that ? When I purchased the Tommy Wonder Levitation System the packaging gave the impression that the provided instructional video was only for those who had purchased the trick and was not to be duplicated or shared. I understood it to be an attempt on the part of the creator (Tommy Wonder) to give the effect some exclusivity and to not allow the method to be distributed for free (certainly not in a public forum) , therefore I would never have digitized the VHS tape that came with mine and posted it on YouTube.

I saw the stuff posted by his brother (a link on another thread here on the Café somewhere). I understand what he is saying - he is in control of the estate so it is legally his to post. And he says it is just such good info he wants to make sure it is not lost.

I have no idea what his brother Tommy would think about it though...
