Topic: Rubberband magic: which DVD? |
|
||
I have volume 1 of Dan Harlan's series on rubber band magic and am looking to get another DVD on rubber band magic. I've pretty well mastered the material on here and have performed it well on many occasions, so I wouldn't call myself a beginner when it comes to 'band magic. Though I like Harlan's DVD, I'm kinda wanting a different, newer perspective on magic with rubber bands. I found these 3 DVDs browsing through the Magic Warehouse site: Jumper by Joe Rindfleisch http://themagicwarehouse.com/DA2706/Jumper-by-Joe-Rindfleisch.html Hot Shot with Rubberbands http://themagicwarehouse.com/DA1613/Hot-Shot-With-Rubberbands.html Link by Nabil Murday http://themagicwarehouse.com/DV7145/Link-by-Nabil-Murday-.html I was especially impressed with the video demos for "Jumper" and "Link". Is anyone familiar with these DVDs? I'd like some input to help me I decide which to purchase. Thanks! |

From the 3, I suggest LINK. I also suggest you check the following DVDs. Symphony - http://themagicwarehouse.com/cgi-bin/findit.pl?x_item=DA4484 Five - http://themagicwarehouse.com/cgi-bin/findit.pl?x_item=DA5393 BendTouchSlink And a linking rubberband DVD by (if not mistaken) Taiwanese magician where the band end up in linked condition but I forgot the title of the DVD. |

I Have JUMPER and LINK, I suggest LINK by Nabil Murday.... but so far, the best rubber band I used is SLR by Paul Harris: http://www.penguinmagic.com/product.php?ID=1934 you can give the linked rubber band to a spectator as a souvenir (and the refill is Inexpensive). you can also try Pinnacle by Russ Niedzwiecki: http://www.penguinmagic.com/product.php?ID=625 |

How about Bandshark by Dan Harlan? |
|
||
About linking rubber band I mentioned earlier, the name is "Picasso Band" by Hondo it's way much better than Paul Harris' SLR (I have them both)... |

Try Banding Around and More Banding Around by Russell Leeds, awesome stuff on these DVDs. If you just want one then go with Banding Around first. http://www.worldmagicstore.com/more-banding-around-p-5985.html http://www.worldmagicstore.com/more-banding-around-p-5985.html Gary Jones. |

I've just gotten around to learning Pinnacle, and think it's a great routine. Well worth a look Cheers Paul |

I have both Picasso Band and SLR, and prefer SLR. Get the SLR Slims and I don't think you'll be disappointed. There were also two pretty cool rubber band tricks in the most recent issue of MAGIC magazine. |

Joe Rindfleish's Extream Rubber band magic DVD is a good place to start, as is Dan harlen's 3 dvds on rubber band magic. Dan's Band sharke is another good one. |

Cheers Gary, glad you enjoyed banding around and more banding around. These are availiable from http://www.worldmagicstore.com Russell Leeds |

Ha I knew your question was loaded for these answers. Bottom line as you can see is that there is no real answer accept for to start with the Harlan and earlier JR videos since they all build from there. Each DVD mentioned has a little something, another idea here and there. Linked had Crazy Man HC ideas before actually getting to the LINKED concept which was less usable to me. LINKED as some other filler in there but some of the added techniques are worth the look. Jumper, also had other effects before getting to the JUMPER idea. Note on Jumper there are camera edits on the Jumper routine. Seek reviews on Jumper since I think this is covered plus I doubt many do the first jumper since there is allot involved and the lighting on the instruction are in shadow at times. Search the Café or make a post in the DVD for sale section since I found most of my DVDs at great prices. |

How about Transit by Calen Morelli? I know it's just one effect on the dvd, but it's still a very powerful one for sure! |

I have to admit I liked the effects in the Banding About DVD, but found the teaching hard to follow so would hesitate to recommend it. But then I am a beginner to rubber band magic so maybe the problem is with me. Danny |
