Topic: Is there a list of all puppet makers?
Message: Posted by: MT (Dec 16, 2010 11:51AM)

Maybe we can make a list of all puppet makers that you recommend with their websites. That would be helpful for new vents like me.

So far I have...

Axtell axtellpuppets.net
Mary Ann Taylor http://www.matpuppets.com/
Wanlu http://www.wanlu.net/puppets.html

Dan Paynes is currently making one for me, and I love the extreme customs that he has done.

I suggest you go to Ventriloquist Central click on the Tribute to Ventriloquism and then you can scroll down for a complete listed of figure makers.

To make it a bit easier here is the link for the Hard figure makers on the Tribute pages of Ventriloquist Central.

I just "won" a wonderful marionette off the "bay" from a J. Emory.

It is a clown skater (inspired by a Fred Cowan piece) with eyes that can blink or wink.

For those on puppethub.com he is a member there.

I looked in this thread before and got out, and I had to look again. I clicked on a link and saw a figure that interests me.
I recently bought an early Lovik figure on ebay because he was close to my first figure, but had no plans to gather any more figures unless I built them, hopefully, I will be able to maintain that position - although I have faltered by emailing for a price quote. On the plus side, I've noticed prices have increased dramatically the few years I had my venting on a backburner, so that will probably save me.
I need to get started on the basswood head I want to carve, that should keep me in check.

Here's some heads that I am currently building for myself.
The Santa character has been sold and the lady is my first vent figure that I made.
The toucan figure will be posted after the tv shoot is finished.

The Vent Haven ConVENTion website has a list of resources which contains many figure makers and puppet makers plus other suppliers. It's under our "Web Links" section.

A big HELLO to all.

I am new to this forum and thought I would take this opportunity to list myself as a figure maker.

I build very unusual and unique one of a kind hard figures.

Here is my link, http://ventriloquistsideshow.com/

I invite everyone to see my in person at the Vent Haven Convention July 13th-16th 2011

Puppet Planet, run by Michelle Acquin, does some great work. She has done some puppets for me and she is very talented. Just be aware that she had some personal difficulties in the past and did not deliver puppets when she should have. She is working, from what I've been told, to rectify the situation but I'm not sure she has the back orders completed. That being said, she is a wonderful puppet maker.

I'd like to add a name to this thread: Jay Tyson (aka Dr. Puppet).

Jay is currently building me a puppet. The work on his site looks amazing. Plus, his work was highly recommended by Donald Woodford. Here's Jay's site:

Hi friends...
I notice that some of the figuremaker lists still point to my old website (that address still has a 'marker' page with a forwarding link).
The new site to bookmark for complete and detailed on my work as well as info on new dummies (currently being updated every few weeks with new figures) is:

Thanks! I'm new to this particular forum and have had fun reviewing many of the archived posts!

cheers, all...
