Topic: Elevated base for the Bed of Nails |
I just built this base. Is anyone useing a base to hold the BON off the floor and do you like it? http://s1116.photobucket.com/albums/k569/joefaro/Bed%20of%20Nails%20Feb%202011/?action=view¤t=DSCN0622.jpg#!oZZ2QQcurrentZZhttp%3A%2F%2Fs1116.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fk569%2Fjoefaro%2FBed%2520of%2520Nails%2520Feb%25202011%2F%3Faction%3Dview%26current%3DDSCN0618.jpg |

It looks good, however, if someone is going to stand on you, it'll be difficult to get on and off. |
It looks good, but scary, which is good as well. |
It'll also make the angles a bit weird, if you're doing block smashing. |

She has a nice step stool with a handle to step up on me. She breaks blocks like she's splitting wood and the best part, when she drops a bowling ball from shoulder height it dosen't drop that far before it hits me and then makes a good thud when it rolls off on to the floor. I'm liking it. |

It looks well made but for me too much timber. The Nails are the thing which should stand out as the feature,,not the framework. To paint the timberwork in aloy paint or a silver finish giving it a metallic look would IMO enhance the nail / metal / strength feature rather than a piece of furniture with nails sticking out of it. Still what do I know !!! Ken. |

I like it, though it looks a tad high to me, but then I think this is the first time I've seen a BON on a base, so it could just be that. I've been thinking of rebuilding my BON with a thicker base, only a couple of inches thick though. |
Ken, I think your right about the color. I'll repaint the base and see how it looks. Thanks P.S. The base is only 8 inches tall. |

Is the cabinet in the background for sale? There's a tag hanging on it... I like how shiny the tips of the nails are. Do the coin games work? Uncle Sam looks lonely. |
The cabinet is for sale but you will have to come pick it up. I'm reworking The Uncle Sam but he does work,I have two of them. The Love Tester is one of the first ones that I made and I'm puting a new coin mec.in it. |

I perform my BoN on top of my show trunk, which is much higher than your platform. I use a stepping stool and two volunteers to help and steady the person standing on me. Never had a problem with it. If I do bowling ball, I place the BoN on the ground. Does yours come off the frame? |

The BON is separate from the base and it can be placed up side down on the base while not in use. |
Seems like a good plan to me. |

Nice Jacobs skull, and I like the 2-tailed squirrel on the wall...I like the BON also.. |

" I gave the chance to change it to something that you would prefer to a bed of nails!". I know it would not work with my wife but its the thought that counts. |

Jim, You better ask her to put the box in the fridge until you get back. |

Yes, but she would have a nice table to " PAINT HER NAILS" on. |
