Although Criss Angel is far from my favourite magician, this sounds pretty kickass.
I hope this is as good as it sounds, and if so, brownie points to Mr. Angel!

That is fairly bold. I also wonder what Copperfield would think of the statement "most succesful magician alive". I am also not sure what a lifestyle portal is. Sounds like something David brent would say to me! However, despite the hype I am slightly intrigued.

If you win you have to get yourself to Vegas and find a place to stay on your own dime...I'm not sure I would walk across the street, let alone fly across the country...

That said, I hope this new site has something to offer the magic community.

Based on his performance on phenomenon, I cannot believe criss will allow anyone who is not criss angel to be seen as anything but a 'student' or pretender to the throne. This site will, most likely, be a tool for the promotion and elevation (and sale) of 'criss angel' and not magic as a whole. If he ever truly concerned himself with the publics perception of magic (as opposed to only the publics perception of himself) he would not have made many of the choices he has made. I fear for the poor kids who will be working on this project. They may have signed a deal with the devil from which they cannot escape. I wonder what they get paid, what their work demands are, if they - like the contest winners - are responsible for their own expenses, and how long criss can hold them in his lair?

I think criss is receiving even more respect from magicians here than he has demonstrated to magic itself. Has mind freak ever rated in the top ten of cable? I know for a while he was claiming it as number one when it had never approaches that
Metric? And on Larry king he claimed that believe at the time was selling out to OVER 100 percent capacity. I went right there after and entire rows around me were empty - and these weren't casino seats.

Can we trust anything about him?

You'll all call somebody fat online but try that with your spouse and we'll see whose brave. Ice T was interviewed on magicplace.com and he said basically the same thing. I dare any of you to approach Mike Tyson and tell him he lisps. If you tell him online make sure you leave your home address. BTW This is an example.

Yeah we had an overload of hits on our site and it crashed. It happens. We are lining up such magic greats for this site that I believe its worth watching. You can love it or hate it after you see it. That's your choice but to carelessly band together to spread BS is cruel.

Safuto dares us to approach Mike Tyson and tell him he lisps. Whether or not someone has the courage to confront Tyson doesn't change the fact that he lisps. Likewise, whether or not I tell Angel to his face I think this site blows, doesn't change the fact that I think MagicPlace.com blows. Safuto, exactly what is your point?

Joe,
I hardly see how being curious about the "Secrets Revealed" section on the site is being "brave". I'm simply curious about what it entails as it looks to be blatant exposure. And for the record, I don't say anything online that I wouldn't say in person.

You said "to question is OK", and since my comments were basically questioning the "Secrets Revealed" section of the site, maybe you can explain what it is all about. Because from the description, it looks as if secrets marketed by others are going to be revealed for free. I look forward to your clarification.

Thanks,
George

A one stop shop for all things magic type website was created way back in 2008, it is called magicsymposium.com. Whilst the site was never launched as a going concern it is REMARKABLY similar to CHRIS ANGELS model for The MAgic Place.

The magic video section of the symposium site is now defunct as hosing for that section was allowed to lapse as the site was never officially launched.

The One Stop Shop idea has been around on the net for 3 years..... The Magic Place.com completely different than anything on the net??? a re-packaged version of some else's idea I think!!!!

I compiled the symposium site 3 years ago, but never launched it as a serious site and left it sleeping. That's how it will stay, sleeping and dormant. FOr those who are curious and want to see what was going to be done, log in and have a snoop using the following: username: guest password: guest13

Make up your own minds..........

It seems that I had a premonition that Chris Angel would create such a site ........... Now that FREAKS MY MIND........... :D

Or they crashed it themselves so they could claim that more than 500 lonely teens and 1,200 middle aged women were actually interested.

I'm sure we will hear lots of 'data' about how hugely successful this is, yet - like claims of show ticket sales and rating slots - will be little more than self deception.

Dear criss, if you have to keep yelling at us, proclaiming something is 'extreme' or 'dangerous' the bit obviously isn't, or we would see it as such by ourselves. Perhaps it would be wise to see if anything actually 'changes' before giving one's project the title of a 'revolution'.

BTW, it takes an hour tops to transfer a web site to "faster servers".......how ya' makin' out so far?
Did you have the site on an old 486 in Chris's bedroom?.........in anticipation of all that "traffic", you know the traffic I mean?...... that overwhelming traffic that "crashed" the site?
Message: Posted by: Don Dasher (Aug 18, 2011 06:43PM)
Before the site was finally removed you could see the forums. There were a few posts but the interesting thing is that it said the most users ever online was 30. And that occurred shortly after the launch.

Whether that's a reliable indication of the level of traffic I do not know. But that's what it said.

In any case, why take the site down once they realized it was still there? We could see it just fine and although there were a lot of dead links everything was working properly.

Perhaps it would be wise to see if anything actually 'changes' before giving one's project the title of a 'revolution'.

the irony is that the web domaine is now probably getting more traffic as magicians the world over are visiting to see if it's back online yet than when it was launched..... maybe he should sell some advertising space on the sorry we are not working page, advertisers would get plenty of exposure there.......

Yes, it's definitely back and running.

Largest magic shop in the world?? Oh really? I think there would be a few who would differ on that.

It looks interesting, I wonder if he's trying to monopolize all the google hits in his "Secrets revealed" section. Basically if he gets lots of traffic to his sight whenever somody types in "criss angel secrets revealed" they should come to his sight.

The whole sight is totally self promoting. He needs to realize that he is not the only magician in the world and there are others out there.

I don't mean to be rude but it seems like he is exploiting magic for his own good. I'm uncomfortable with that.

On Ebay today and suprised at how much Criss Angel Magic Set is going for.

I think he is a better marketer then a magician. Not saying he is bad but he has a gold finger like Oprah. Its something about him that draws the young audiences.

Good times,

D

I respect your replies. the internet is loaded with magic exposures and how to's for free. I can go to you tube and find hundreds if not thousands. Why criticize a possible teaching area on MBN?
I don't care when people question. I think its healthy. My Tyson reference still stands. If you approached me and called me a jerk id be ok with that :)
Mike on the other hand would woop your but.

Some kid on youtube is hardly comparable to a well-known magician's website with a section dedicated to exposing tricks.

I'm not criticizing, I'm asking for clarification. Because as I mentioned, to me the description makes it look as if secrets marketed by others are going to be revealed for free. If that isn't the case then please clarify.

Thanks,
George

So, just wondering here.......how does a web site get "overwhelming response" and subsequently crash.......but only have a grand total of 30 posts in their forum?........and those 30 posts from their grand total of 80 members.

You'd think a few more of those many tens (possibly hundreds) of thousands of people who "crashed" the whole website would have popped over to the forum to say hello to Cris.

So has anybody watched the Ammar video under secrets revealed? My computer isn't fast enough to watch it. Is it something that Ammar markets?

It was a nice segment. Basically they are pitching Michael's 3 dvd set. Michael does show a card effect and then teaches it.

Cool, it just looked like they were going to reveal Michael Ammar's stuff. It sounds like it's better quality than I thought.

Chris is a good marketer. He's getting older and beginning to lose his young rockstar flare. Now that his Botox and other age covering things are wearing off, he has to
keep income streams flowing to payoff all that mess he's paying on in cruddy Las Vegas. As an ancient wise man said, "there is no new thing under the sun."
Magicplace is nothing different. It's just managed by the egoist illusionist and his puppets. It seems deceptively over commercialized, with a Sam's Club flavor. If it floats your boat, then keep peddling friends but for me I prefer to value the rich history of magical arts and avoid getting suckered into a hyped up marketing scheme. There are many other popular magicians, shops and resources around the world that have existed way before Chris and magicplace blowing through town. Magic is an art that should be treated as your own personal jewel. Flash it the way that beat suits your personality. 10 years from now, Chris will be a memory for the magic community. A memory that moved many of us to push harder and a memory of total annoyance for the rest.

Well I guess this will be interesting to see what becomes of all this.

Good magic to all,

Me too, what will this all turn out to be for the good of magic in general.

Couldn't they have chosen a different name? David Lemberg has had a magic shop website for a few years called the magic place. http://www.magicplace.us
