Topic: Need the name of this trick

It is the one where you have like 5 cards with numbers ranging from 1 to 31 (or whatever you want) and have someone think of a number and then have them look at all 5 cards to see if there number is on it then at the end you call out there number. Thought it was magic squares but that is a totally different trick I see.

Any help would be appreciated.

Most sites refer to it as "The Age Cards", since the standard presentation is to have someone look for their age.

If you search for age cards magic trick, you should find plenty of resources.

Since you mention this trick AND magic squares, here's Werner Miller's Age Cube and Werner Miller's Age Square!

Thanks Scott.

Since most of these go to 31 and up I am looking to make one for 20 and 15. Any ideas? I searched Tarbell, Henry Hay's Amature Magicians Hand Book. Searched the three links and did a google search for binary numbers trick (that scrambled my brain at 5 am).

Thanks.

Start with the card set shown here (one of the references linked to by Scott), which is a set of six cards for the numbers 1–63. Simply remove any numbers that you don't need, and construct new cards with what remains. If you don't go above 31, you only need five cards. If you don't go above 15, you only need four cards. Etc.
