"Was Houdini Murdered?" is the topic of Brad Meltzer's Decoded set to air on January 4 on The History Channel.

Not sure what they will use from us. We shot all day, about 12 hours from the park near Houdini's house and in front of the house at 278. They also wanted to go to the cemetery in Queens, but it did not work out. We asked them to visit the Houdini Museum, in Scranton, PA, where we have much of the research material. It is also where we do our annual Original Houdini Seance but they did not have the time in coming through the East Coast. I think they may have shot seance material elsewhere.

Dorothy Dietrich and myself, Dick Brookz, mostly talked about the legendary tale of what happened that fateful day in the dressing room of the Princess Theater.

For the record we have put up 3 pages on our web site as a preview, that begins at http://houdini.org/houdinimurdered.html on the subject, since we do not know what they will use, if any.

We have been researching the ins and outs of this event for over ten years, as well as his entire life, as is the museum's mission, in between all our shows. We try to help keep the Houdini legend alive as well as to figure out every possible thing Houdini. As you may know we recently replaced the bust at his grave that has been missing all these many years, and have been asked by the cemetery to be the ones to take care of the grave site. We have other plans for the site as well.

If you have any thoughts or things to add, please write.

There is much more, but who knows what they will even use. It depends on their agenda, the producer, the director, and the editing room.

Our best,
Dick Brookz & Dorothy Dietrich

That show stunk. Sorry Dick and Dorothy ended up cut out. I learned nothing new, and picked up on some straight up misinformation. Feh!

My thoughts on the show.

Since when is Josuah Jay an "ESCAPE ARTIST"?

(his billing on the program: "Escape Artist/Magician"..I had to laugh; but he may not have had any say in the matter).

Would have liked to have seen:

*Norm Bigelow
*Larry Weeks
*Dick & Dorothy
*John Cox
*Ken Trombly
*278 W. 113th brownstone
*The cemetary

Murder theory aside, I thought it was totally "Pro-Houdini", and the program made clear what a fascinating performer Houdini was, and of the life & career that he led.

No 278, but we did get the "Houdini Estate in Los Angeles." It's like this show went out of it's way to be wrong.

I'm pretty sure a part of the cemetery was shown.

Yeah, it opened with a shot of the cemetery. But they missed the shot Harry rolling over in his grave.
