I get it. As a magic builder, I use a similar analogy. Get it fast, get it low price, get it high quality. One of the three must always be sacrificed.

Interesting interpretation of the original question. And I have heard that sentiment expressed before. But I do not believe it. I suspect many of us know of tricks that are amazing, cheap, and easy to do.

I'll mention Double Back by Jon Allen, because I believe it satisfies all three criteria and is a trick that I was just recently introduced to.

I'll take

Amazing
Cheap

In a way (although I personally like easy) lots of other Magicians are going for the easy and one way to differentiate yourself as far as repertoire goes is to do some effects that depend on skill.

I can't win an "out spend 'em" contest and I like it amazing so I'll sacrifice easy on a few effects to make sure my show is different than most.

Agreed. But, the fact that the OP mentioned "pick two" indicated to me a possible intent of the statement. Naturally, I could have understood it incorrectly (wouldn't be the first time), as it may very well have asked each responder to name two effects that fit the 3-point criterion.

Perhaps if "no skill required" was also thrown into the mix, the outcome would change. ;)

Blindfold with Masking Tape. (Almost free if you have some tape around the house.)

Full body catalepsy. (Also free. But you'll need three strong chairs.)
