Topic: Look forward to Notes from the Lord, ...
Message: Posted by: ParaLabs - Thomas (Apr 30, 2013 04:31PM)
Hey there!

Just wanted to inform you about an exciting actual project that we accomplish in collaboration with our friend Ron Chavis. The preparations are nearly completed so I thought it won’t hurt to make your mouths water a little bit in advance, … :)

What I’m talking about is a collection of all published and (up to now) unpublished works of … Paolo Cavalli!

We first encountered ‘The Lord of the Horses’ through his few and rare published works and then through several online forums (including some of the non-public ones). In all of these he graciously shared with us his wisdom and experience. Over the years we have exchanged literally hundreds of emails with him in which we have discussed creative and artistic topics in addition to personal and private matters.

We have come to know him as a man whose literary skills and empathy are only surpassed by his helpfulness and generosity. We have learned so much from his creative genius, and gained so much inspiration from our conversations, that claiming he influenced our work would be a huge understatement.

You will therefore understand how delighted we were when Paolo kindly agreed to allow us to republish his works in printed format.

We have always held the view that Paolo’s works were not as widely known or appreciated as they might be or, indeed, to the extent that they deserved. Many of the ideas and concepts that you’ll find within this upcoming collection are not only genuine and original but also reveal the mind-set of a deep and unconventional thinker.

Now the first four volumes of The Cavalli Files will comprise Paolo’s previous published works.

The final two or three volumes, under the title Notes from the Lord’s Diary, will contain something really special: Drafts, outlines and exposés from Paolo’s original sketch books! Parts of these are his ‘works in progress’, ideas and concepts that have never before seen the light of day.

The idea of this concept (publishing even works in progress) has an experimental character as a matter of fact – even for us! This is because one day Paolo himself may offer some new wonders based on these outlined concepts. But until then each reader can think about these basic ideas on his own and use them to spark his own creative imagination.

We are really excited about this project and hope that the community will appreciate bringing those hidden gems to the day light! :)

We will offer you more details about the series and its several volumes (even content-wise) within the next two or three weeks in the ‘Mentally Speaking’ area of the Café.

So you can look forward to at least six or even seven printed volumes of The Cavalli Files, including two or three volumes of previously unpublished Notes from the Lord’s Diary!

Cheers
Th.

What wonderful news!!! Paolo is a great thinker :)

I never knew him well, but what I knew I liked. It almost feels like a kind of sacrilege to freely publish the private thoughts of a man who has disappeared into almost hermit-ness! :)

Excellent news and exciting to hear. Can't wait to climb on board this one. I'm sure hoping it's all priced far below what they'll be worth.

Conmgrats to us, and Thanks Thomas and Paolo!

Fantastic news!! Well done guys, Paolo does deserve more limelight again.

Ron, Thomas, Rainer and Paolo, we raise our glasses!

I knew that some of you would be as excited as we are regarding this project! :)

Thanks a lot for meeting our expectations with this regard - and thanks a lot for your appreciation!

@ tboehnlein
We've not calculated this finally; we'll try to keep this within the $50 range for each copy, shipping incl.
The volumes will be released one after the other, in sequence, maybe one volume per month.
But as I said, this is just the way we try to work it out.

@ MatthewSims
No, we don't intend to keep this limited. Our goal is rather to spread the word and to give Paolo's works the appreciation that they deserve. And limiting them would not meet this intention from our point of view ... and a higher price range wouldn't meet this intention as well. Maybe this isn't the best marketing strategy of all times ;) - but profit maximization is neither the aim nor our strength as you will easily notice, ...

I understand what you say. But not-appreciating the works of such a brilliant thinker and leaving them in the dark would be a sacrilege as well from our point of view.
Paolo's works were created to be performed, not to be forgotten ... unused.

Thanks again for your interest! As I said, we will give you more details in the 'Mentally Speaking' section as soon as our preparations are done.
Until then, if there are any questions regarding this project, feel free, ... :)

Cheers

Finally many hidden secrets will be coming out. Paolo is a wealth of ideas and presentations. Over the years I've had the pleasure of discussing many ideas with him and he always had brilliant takes, subtleties and presentations on all the effects that are out there.

I'm sure there will be many gems in this collection.

Thank you all for your appreciation!

We are very excited about this project - and since my latest post about this topic it became even better. :)

Some REALLY great minds out there who worked on a few creative projects with Paolo over the years offered to share their state of development of these works in question for the 'Diary Notes' ... which is fantastic!

I don't want to expose too much details at this point ... but you may enjoy pondering about some initials, ... ;) - JF, JR, CM! :coolest:

Really excited!

Arce and Cavalli are two of my favorite all time thinkers: those are great news!!

I'm no famous in any way yet mr.Cavalli shared with me some ideas and tips on my routines and even sent me one of his unpublished pet routines for me to perform as much as I wanted with his blessings:

THAT to me says a whole story on his character and generosity: he will always have my full support and my gratitude:

the other names with which he shared tips and golden ideas could be JF Finley JR Riggs ?? I'm clueless on CM ??

I, like Greg Arce, have been away from the green boards for quite some time and don't post often. This, however, has my attention for a couple of reasons:

1. I FULLY support Paralabs in all of their endeavors. Paralabs is not only brilliant as a company, but Thomas and Rainer are both incredible examples of human beings. Kind, generous and very genuine.

2. I FULLY support the work of Paolo Cavalli. While I have never met the man in person, we have had many conversations over email about ideas, swapping routines and giving and getting feedback on new work. Paolo has ALWAYS been nothing but helpful and inspiring to me and, for that, I thank him.

Paolo has kindly shared many pieces of his work with me and I am astounded by his creativity and vast knowledge. I, for one, am extremely anxious for this new release.

They are - technically. :)

All books got a completely new layout, type set and a few new graphics/illustrations.
To set them up in type again was necessary to meet the requirements of the printing edition - as the first volumes of the original releases were set up for ebooks/pdfs ... and the final volumes of the upcoming 'Cavalli Files' series have never been published before anyway.

Now a pre-print of the first volume is on its way to me for a final check. And assuming that everything looks like it should we will announce the actual release within the next days.
You will appreciate that we rather feel comfortable to offer a book when we had the chance to check it in print beforehand, right? ;)

But as I said, the advance reading copy is on its way and I should get it within the next two days, ...
