Topic: Double Face Super Triple Coin Advancement!!!!
Message: Posted by: jconstantine (Jun 19, 2013 05:29PM)
I have found stickers for your dollar size super triple coin that can make you set look like any number of different coins.
There are so many styles to choose from. From realistic looking coin stickers. Chinese coin stickers. Poker chips. All kinds of stuff.

They come in 1.5 inch and 3 inch sizes. 1.5 inch is the exact size of a dollar sized coin so these stickers fit perfecly on the back side of your super triple coin. They do not come in half dollar size. I already emailed the company and asked and the two sizes I mentioned above are the only way to go. So sorry half dollar users.

Here are some hand picked ones that I have already bought and tried.....

http://www.zazzle.com/1889_morgan_silver_dollar_tail_round_sticker-217761311380155212

Here are some that I am looking to try next.....

Some poker chips

Here is a full list of poker chips

Some Chinese Coins

Here is a full list of all the round 1.5 inch coin stickers that they sell.
http://www.zazzle.com/coin+round+stickers?ps=120

Finally here is one that you can custom make with your own image.
http://www.zazzle.com/design_your_own_stickers-217369951039857343

Most of these are 5-10 dollars per sheet and you get 20 stickers. I bought the chinese stickers directly from Mr. Wong and got like 12 for for more money. Now you can customize your set to what you like.

Here are two quick videos of myself showing you guys what your say might look like when you change out the stickers. Please keep in mind that these are private youtube videos and ABSOLUTELY POSOTIVELY EXPOSE THE GIMMICK!!!! So please do not share this video link with any non magician. This is stricly for us. Not for exposure!

Hope you guys use this information and make up some really sick look DFSTC sets. Post pics and performance vids in this thread. Let's get those creative juices flowing.

Is this thread for sticker talk only... or general new tips and tricks about DFSTC... because I would like to add the link to the optically clear teflon tape...

http://www.amazon.com/CS-Hyde-Optically-Silicone-Adhesive/dp/B000REI90W

... which can fix a whole lot of the problems with "sticky" stickers (if you're stickers are sticky).
Message: Posted by: jconstantine (Jun 21, 2013 09:38AM)
Since the tape fixes the problems with the sticker and winces the problem is still there even with these new stickers go ahead and add it.

The Chinese one withe the Yin and the Yang and TWO holes, seems very iteresting to me.

I think I will be replacing mine with the English penny and some optically clear Teflon tape. Would work well with C/S coin and takes care of the slight discrepancy that the black dot instead of a hole makes more sence.

Great find, thanks for sharing it with us.

An idea:

Buy standard disc magnets that have a 1.5" diameter. The magnets should be relatively thin. An example below:
http://tinyurl.com/mgftzo4

Then, using whichever stickers you'd like, you can create a variety of gaffs. For example, a three coin nest using Morgan Dollars (Front, Back), British Half Pennies, and Chinese Coins.

Use all Morgan Dollar stickers to create what would be a very expensive Three Fly gimmick. A double sided Split Coin. I see an infinite amount of possibilities...

This sounds great but I went to that site and added 6 magnets to my cart and was told that I would have to pay a $5 dollar low order fee for orders under 19.99 plus the shipping was 12.49 for ups ground. The *** magnets only cost $10.32 but I'm supposed to pay and extra 17.49 for a low order fee and shipping. Kiss my grits. Gonna have to find another magnet company with better polocies. Great idea though!

Theoretically the idea sounds good, the only problem I foresee is that this 1" 1/2 discs are very strong magnets (Approximate pull force: 9 lbs each). Might be difficult to separated the "coins" set made with this magnets, stickers and clear tape.

Think you might be right. Not to sound like a jerk but I took the first leap of faith on the stickers.... SO if someone else is willing to take the risk on these magnets and see if they work good then please do so. Post pics and a video as I have done.

Because we are sliding the magnets, and not pulling them apart perpendicularly, it might not be as hard as one would expect. This is just a guess; one would need to have the magnets in hand to be sure.
Pull Force - The force required to pull a magnet free from a flat steel plate using force perpendicular to the surface.
Maybe instead of using all disc magnets, it's a combination of the disc magnets and 1.5" washers that are attracted to a magnet (ferromagnetic).

Or, we use standard washers, and put a small, thin magnet (with less pull force) in the hole of the washer. The sticker than seals magnet and washer together.

I just bought a sample pack of poker chips here for $1.53

http://www.pokerchipman.com/poker-chip-sample-packs/striped-dice-sample-pack-10-chips

They exactly match these poker chip stickers that I have also bought and are on the way to me now.

Imagine telling a stoy about how you show up to a casino with cash money in coin form IE your fully opened STC Eisenhower or Morgan side out. The manager of the casino says you cannot gamble with cash. So you slowly and visually change your silver dollars into poker chips one at a time. Then maybe for a climax you get a bunch of poker chips to dump out of you sleeves or steal a bunch of chips from a coin clip. Whatever method you want. It's a neat routine I came up with of the top of my head. If you can routine it properly and polish it it would be killer. Plus the poker chips could be a segway into your card magic. Taking you from one genre of magic to another. What a great way to transition from coins to cards rather than just saying.....You wanna see a card trick now?

I have used them and I think the stickers are pretty cool. However, if you keep nest the split coins together for some time, they will be difficult to seperate. When not in use for a period of time, its best to put a divider between them.

If you are interested in my take, you can get them here.

The poker chips are made from the chips that I have and the coins are made from Chinese Shell set that I'm sure many of you already have. One of the Chinese coin sticker is made from Ton Onosaka's Chinese shell set, so the sticker side will match the coin. The other one is made from Jieli's Chinese coin shell set.

BTW, if you put 2 different stickers on a Split Coin, you can do a Triple Spellbound like this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tAtCwYQsnr0

If anyone is looking to go elswhere for their STC gaff, you can buy 2 Lassen Eisenhower split coins. Which gives you the option of having your STC in HEAD HEAD TAILS format, or TAILS TAILS HEADS FORMAT. The stickers fit perfectly on these just like the wong STC. The magnetic pull on Lassen's gaff is a bit stronger but in a good way. The coins snap back into position and line up really well. Sometimes with the wong set up the Double Face portion peaks out from behind the Eisenhower dollar and you get a little flash of the gold from the Chinese side of the gaff. This is not so with the lassen set. Yes the full set is a little bit chunkier when fully assembled with all three coins but for how long do you actually show the whole set with it completely assembled anyway?

Here is the link to his split coin.

From those that have tried the various stickers, I'm curious how the stickers of coins such as the English penny look?
Specifically, I wonder if they look too flat or 2 dimensional?
Real coins are 3 dimensional and have some relief to them.
I suppose if you were to just flash it just showing the opposite side for a moment it would be fine, but usually you are holding it out for a short time if you're ostensibly displaying an entirely different coin. Just wondrin'.

I actually kind of like the Chinese coin sticker because that is just a "made-up" coin anyway, and no one really knows what it should look like. Same with not having an actual hole in it. If you're not using any coins that do have holes in the same routine, then nobody but magicians notice the lack of a hole.
I also like the Chinese stickers because of the way they pop when you first see them, the contrast is great in any type of lighting.
But having said that, it is always fun to play around with new stuff and experiment. I know the stickers are cheap and I will probably get some, but just wondering how others have liked them.

By the way, that optically clear teflon tape is fantastic. I have been using it for many things. It's great for adding slippery-ness and cutting down noise. I even use it on ungimmicked coins such as 3 Fly because it makes them absolutely silent and so smooth. You no longer have to use soft coins to avoid having them talk. And you totally can't see it, completely invisible. Plus, works a treat inside of shells and so forth, it is extremely thin yet very durable. I really can't see which coin I applied it to on my DFSTC.
Thanks,
Bill

Great collaboration from others on this very interesting thread.

I am waiting on stickers. Went to Home Depot...1 1/2 inch fender washers @ 25cents each. They have a 3/8ths inch hole in the center (smallest they had). Just thinking, this actually has some interesting potential when applying chinese coin stickers with simulated hole in the center. So hole punch the sticker and apply it to the fender washer and it goes right thru like an actual chinese coin with a hole in the middle. So when used with the STC you have a chinese coin that sticks to STC.....have to mess with this combination when stickers arrive.....just sayen that blanks are a great find but don't ignore the center hole in the fender washers for different combinations and magical effects....looking forward to messing with this when materials are at hand.

As for the two dimensional effect of some of the stickers...there are several stickers of copper coins to choose from with a clearer and higher "relief" than the English half penny...look carefully at them before choosing.

Don't forget guys laymen are looking at these for maybe a few secs per coin. They are not being handed out for examination. The coins are appearing vanishing color changing jumping from hand to hand. So much to keep track of for a spectator. They are not going to notice anything. Magicians on the other hand will know right away that your not using a real coin. But we are not performing for magicians. Maybe some of you are thinking :really stickers instead of coins how cheap!: but you know what if it works it works. Don't knock it till you try it. I've been frying people with this custom set and making a couple more. DFSTC was a great spring board to get this started but this is just insane.
Message: Posted by: cperkins (Jun 25, 2013 11:53AM)
Yup, I agree. I isn't about the objects per se. I could be walnuts or candy pieces or any small object at all as far as the spec is concerned. Its about the quick vanish, or production or color change that grabs the spec.

Much of the fun here is in the experimentation with a lot of different set ups for all kinds of interesting possibilities and eye candy.

After they have their materials, I hope those interested in this thread share some of the results of their experimentation as jconstantino has done.

In theory you could use the "create your own sticker option here...........

http://www.zazzle.com/design_your_own_stickers-217369951039857343

and just shrink the image down. Now I don't know how small you would have to shrink it to get it right. Too small or too large and your screwed. I found this site after days of searching (not kidding is was days) so someone could find another sticker site that will do custome sized as well. This obviously isn't the only site on the internet. Let us all know if anybody figures it out. I'm mostly a dollar size fella myself. But I do own a half dollar STC I'd like to customize.

BTW my poker chip stickers came in and they look sooooooooooooooooo real it's ridiculous. I'll post another youtube video eventually showing that set and another set I made.

SIDE NOTE

I've noticed that these stickers tend to where out a little bit around the edges. They start to scrape away a bit and look white all around the edge of the coin. This is after extensive use though. But the sticker packs come in 20's so I think I have plenty should they need to be changed out from time to time.

I not talking about the sticker overlapping and being seen from the front of the coin. I trim the sticker if there is any overlap as well. What I'm talking about is the sticker face itself starts to wear away after being rubbed over and over when sliding the coins apart.

I had an issue with the Chinese sticker black art hole of the DFST set, to me it screames fake, even if the coin is kept in motion. When jconstantine found the coins/ poker chips stickers source it did open new options for all the DFST enthusiasts.

I took now the sticker idea a little further, by taking the Chinese sticker that come with the DFST and re-designed the Chinese coin replacing the central part and making look the sticker as a solid Chinese coin.

I designed a few coin stickers with different variations, in one of the coin stickers the central part is now all black plus a brass central spot where the fake hole was, another sticker have now a Yin -Yang symbol at the center, another have a Chinese character also at the center and the last one with the center all black, so no more central square or fake hole.

I am still playing with the design and didn’t print anything yet.

The Yin Yang Dragons are very eye catchy.

They sure caught my eye.

I am wondering if the larger size (3 inch) might work as decoration for some old props I have.

Thanks Joseph.

Those dragons stickers are reminiscent of Mortal Kombat.
That's something I wouldn't want specs thinking about.

I finished the re-design of the original DFST chinese coin sticker to a choise of black, red, blue and green background design. The Chinese coin sticker shows solid with not "hole".

I will send a free link to my Dropbox to the people who have contribute so far to this thread and owns a DFST. If you are interested, PM with your email address.

Those look really good! I guess we don't have to pay johnny for extra stickers anymore lol! $5 bucks gets you 20 stickers. Great job!

I also got my sticker from Zazzle today, the quality for chinese coin sticker is good. But I'm not satisfied with others (especially Morgan sticker).
The sticker material is glossy , but one of my coin sticker (American Eagle Silver Dollar) are non-glossy material(paper material sticker).
I'm waiting for Zazzle's explanation.
Here is my sticker review on my Blog (http://attken.pixnet.net/blog/post/97720147)

Well I'm taking the plunge on the el cheapo version from page 1. I appologize for the jumpy nature of the post, but its mostly transcribed from my design notebook.

I order ten 1 1/2'' x 1/16'' magnets, 20 morgan heads, 20 morgan tails, and 20 chinese coins stickers. I also picked up a bunch of washers from the hardware store

Going to experiment with:

Design A: Morgan Face(washer)Chinese Morgan Face(magnet)Chinese Chinese(washer)Morgan Tails

All washers are ferrous.
Thickness a possbile issue, but mitigated by using thin washers. Thin coins not a problem if handled properly i.e. held facing out at chest level

Concerns; washers won't be lined up on magnet automatically. Maybe for productions only?

Design B: same layout as design A but with non ferrous washers

If non-magnetic metal is used, I could possible trap a weaker and smaller magnet in the hole of the washer with the stickers. This could line up automatically, testing needed. Thiness of washers dictaed by size of small magnets I can find, but intial testing done with 1/8 magnets leftover from other projects. The 1.5 magnet could be totally substituted for a third washer, but the stickers may have to be reinforcred some how such that the force of the magnets does not cause bulge marks or possbbly ripping through the sticker. Must test sticker strength when they arrive.

Design C: magnet magnet magnet

Thickness a major concern
Magnets to Magnet connection. Testing stickers both sides and only one side. Want to test if the force of the magnets poses a problem in sperating them by sliding. Also testing automatic alighment properties.

Design D: magnet magnet washer
Attempt to mitigate thickness problem of C. Washer may be thin and magnet equiped if initial testing from B proves sucessful.

So that's what I have in mind. Things should be arriving in the mail in the next 5-7 business days.

The stuff came in the mail today, and I got right to work playing with all the coins. It turns out the right answer was not any of my four designs.

First off, the magnets are moderatly difficult to seperate in magnet to magnet contact. It is doable, but not easy. If you stack three magnets, it is functionally impossible to slide them apart.

The washers did not stick to the magnets as well as I thought they would. I chalk that up to low iron content in the metal. They do however natrually want to nest flush with the magnets. This suprised me.

I was playing with the magnet magnet washer design, and I set it up the wrong way accidently because it is hard to tell which coin is which when they have stickers on them. I put them in magnet washer magnet order. This turned out to fix all the problems. The washer acts as a barrier between the two magnets allowing them to slide apart easily.

Looks really good. You should put up a few links to where you got the magnets and washers from.

I used the link for the magnets proved by jprace on page one

http://www.amazon.com/Disc-Package-Earth-Neodymium-Magnets/dp/B000W8O7P4

The washers are from my local Home Depot, but any hardware store will have them. Size 1.5" by 1/16"

Thanks Zachary, that's cool.
I commend you for experimenting and seeing what you can come up with, and then sharing your findings with us and posting a video.
We all owe you one!
Thanks again,
Bill

Ok I received my DFSTC in the mail and what I can say is that the coins now really slides smoothly whith the stickers and the coin now looks thinner than the super triple coin which is a plus point.so what I think is Johnny wong has come up with a solution to the problems that we all were facing.

Can anyone please repost the videos as to how to replace the stickers, do you peel the old ones off first or do they just go over the top?

Hey Bernard,
Can you or anyone else say where I could get a dollar split coin to play around with the sticker options ? The one in your youtube clip look great and somehow the edges match also . Where did you get it ?

Did someone here say, "Advancement?"

I know stickers are a WOW when it comes to these coins, but take a look at this. There's been a lot of changes since 2013… Now it's sorta like, "Look Ma, No Hands!" :D

"I'm gonna leave this right here...This is the best split triple I have ever used. I got mine this week and have had a lot of fun coming up with my own routines. The coins slide apart like butter! They are almost the same thickness as a regular Eisenhower dollar coin when they are together. The best part, no more stickers or tape!!! ' -Brian Proctor, Café Member

This new coin looks great. However, I also really liked JJs previous offerings. Especially the option to make up your own with copper silver and a real poker chip flying in and out ! They were very popular !
In all honesty , are the stickers a poor cousin? Do they not look as good as the new ones?
Message: Posted by: Mb217 (Nov 27, 2016 07:05PM)
No worries…As John gets his website humming even better, I'm sure he'll still continue to offer his original set with the chip to all those that prefer it. Its also very popular and is still a really neat routine that amazes folks to no end. :D

John's use of stickers in his work, were properly placed with the right strength magnets and overall design and testing, and it did not impede the set's workability, as you might've read about with other sets, old & new now.

So now, you got a couple of real good choices with John's coin sets that offers a couple of neat ways to skin a cat, and one unique new way now that makes the cat even better. ;) So, it's all good, and plus John has a whole host of other machined coin magic yet to put out there. You're gonna love his thinking and work! :)

I already do! But would like to be able to see the options. I hope at some point he will have his options up and showing . I even think you could have interchangeable sets with add ons ! Swap out the 3rd coin for a poker split etc. ! As the gimmicks are not really secrets , it would be great to see exactly what we could order . Or how we could customize a set. The amount of research I have to do sometimes just to find out what I'm buying is crazey.

Bought a set 2 weeks ago directly from Paul Richards. Excellent service, fantastic routine and the coins work great!

I have the Bill Cheung Vegas Dream triple split Morgan dollar set and I just replaced the poker chip sticker with the replacement set that was provided with the original purchase. They seam to be glossy stickers but their design makes them wear out kind of fast. I'm thinking of purchasing these https://www.zazzle.com/casino_chip_for_split_coins_super_triple_etc_classic_round_sticker-217456240592484220 to have on hand as my next replacement stickers. My question is, should I be purchasing the Glossy finish or the Matte finish option? Does it matter? Will one slide better than the other? Will one look better than the other? I've never had problems with this set sticking before, they've always been a very smooth slide with the original stickers.

Langston3711: I’ve purchased Zazzle stickers for Poker Chip designs. The glossy ones work “OK” but you will get better action by adding Optic Clear PFTE tape. If you add that, they will live for a LONG TIME!!!
