Topic: TAROGRAPHY a review

Before we get going, some info.

I've met Iain Dunford once. At Psycrets meet. Larger than life and weird as tuna ice cream. But then aren't we all weird...just in different ways.

I know him best through this place.
After you've been here a while you build up a picture of people. Who's opinion to trust, who to ignore. Who's products deserve a good look at, and who churns out re-hashes of old stuff.

I have decided for myself that Iain is one of the top guys here. I like the way he thinks, I like the way he writes. I'm a fan.

So bearing all that in mind......

A link will be provided later.

What is it? A method for combining the tarot with modern photographic images.
Something that should appeal to those who may find the normal tarot not to their liking, or not fitting with their persona.
The book concentrates on the 22 major arcana, though there is no reason you couldn't extend it if you wished.

The information is basically divided into two sections.
The first deals with creating, acquiring, displaying the images.
The second deals with the reading of those images.

Iain's writing style is easy to read and the information is easy to assimilate.
Links are provided to outside resources where necessary. Very helpful and saves a lot of time as Iain has done all the research so you don't have to.

Experienced tarot readers will have no problem implementing Tarography straight away.
Those new to readings will still need to do some learning. But this is such a fun way to get into it, the learning would be quite enjoyable I would say.

Iain has written quite extensively about reading systems, developing many of his own.
He knows his onions. He believes in giving the necessary information without any filler or fluff. Preffering to let each reader mould things to their own requirements.

This is another Dunford hit. Treat yourself. See the tarot in a completely new way.

Aha - thank you so much Sir...

tuna fish ice-cream aint so weird is it?

I have a lovely endorsement from none other than Richard Webster - "I found it fascinating, and am looking forward to creating my own Major Arcana using your ideas and methods. You've created a fascinating, useful text, and I hope you do really well with it. Wow - there are going to be so many unique Tarot decks from now on. Congratulations!"

I'm very proud of this one, as the initial thought processes were kicked off around eight years ago, and the two times I tried to get it off the ground, for one reason or another - it didn't work out that way...

to be open about this one, no photos are supplied because this is about personalisation - however, I have included mini photos of my set in the back of the booklet so you can scan/cut them out if your imagination runs dry...you also see each of the major arcana individually, along with my thoughts for each photo's additional meaning...

plus there are applications that work with business cards, and a few other sneaky things...

I love the possibilities this open ups. It, in many ways, brings Tarot into the modern age and opens many doors for presentation.

Thanks Six...

I have had a great bit of feedback from Greg Rostami, who has said:
"I love the idea.

I think it's a perfect match for teleFoto. I think mixing photos with Tarot is an amazingly organic idea.

I love it,
Greg Rostami"

So it appears lulu are retiring some formats of books - this being one of them, so it will momentarily dissapear late august in this current format, while I re-format it...so those that have bought it so far have a very minor collectors item, as this will no longer be available in this format for much longer!

I have tried my very best to sort this and keep it printed in the format that it needs to be...i have not been able to do that unfortunately...

so there is good and bad news... those that have bought it in the hardback now have a very minor collector's item...and it is now only going to available in pdf format, available now:

apart from the richard webster quote, I have also received one from marc salem too...

"Iain continues to amaze and raise the bar in reading people and their thoughts"

so as its an ebook, I can pass on the savings too...

I must say I liked this as well. I think it takes they "weirdness, occult-ish and uncomfortableness" out of the perception that many often think of when hearing tarot or tarot card readings. I agree with Stephen, if you already use tarot you will be off and running immediately, for others I think it will make learning tarot, the means and the process actually easier than ever before. This is a much more relatable and mass-appealing means for offering readings and performing tarot. It also gives the performer many performance options, especially pertaining to the tone of the readings.

I really like this as it opens many doors. The resources he provides for the photos was great, fun to play with and offers many possibilities, for this as well as other effect and presentation ideas.

This can also be a solution and deal for those that would otherwise be put off by tarot or that may have been hesitant to learn or work with tarot in the past for a variety of reasons.

It was well written, well-laid out, clear and concise. Very well done.

If you are on the fence, let be be the first to push you over into getting this great resource.

Excellent... I am VERY pleased that you liked it, mindpro...thank you...

with the one personalised pack, you can perform a version of OOTW, a fair amount of card work can in fact port over pretty easily, and each photo gives you a way to engage and connect with whatever sized audience you are performing for...this works as well with groups as it does one-on-one...

if anyone has any questions, please respond here and I'll get back to you on this thread...cheers

This is now in a compilation of mine called Mentalis Elegante...

when I sent this compilation to print, I decided to NOT include my own tarographic images because I didn't want people to rely on mine and dive headlong into making their own...however, I have accepted that some people may not work visually, but want to...so you can see the original tarographic images via this link...it'll make no sense to you if you haven't got the text, though I'm sure that won't stop some of you...
