Hello everyone, let me just start with a PM I wrote to Kozmo

I've been studying Cellini's linking ring booklet, also it seems you helped him produced the dvd. I'm also thinking about getting that DVD.

But first, I need to know which rings Cellini used? On the bookler they look like 12" and in the dvd demo they look like 10"

The only thing I know is that the hollow rings won't do the job. They're too thick.

The only branch I've found that aren't hollow, are the Klamm rings http://www.klamm-magic.com/cgi-bin/web_store.cgi?cart_id=8985170_22595&keywords=LI011&exact_match=on

I work on stage mostly and the streets also. Perhaps you can point me to the right direction since you actually saw those rings!
Thank you!

Kozmo replied:
good luck !

Thanks to Kozmo now I know which size. But I don't know if they are hollow or not. I have a 12" set but they're hollow and thick and they don't favor the routine, since Cellini's approach is about OPTICS IMHO.

Besides, I do have an 8" shiny solid set, ideal for Cellini's moves. Good for practicing, but way too small for me.

So my question still remains, which rings Cellini used?

p.s.: Kozmo replied 12" but on this videos they look like 10". Perhaps on the streets he used 12"... I don't know

Both videos loo like 10-inch rings. They are easier to handle than 12s.

Jay Marshall used 8-inch rings. I use 10-inch... Chris Capehart works a great routine on the streets and on stage, he says he prefers the cheap rings. Check his stuff out... hard to beat.

Thanks Pete. I would go with the 10" also... I think I'm getting a 10" set from Owen's.

I've used this 8" on my show, I think they look rather small on me, these are my 8" solid ones.

Like I said, I don't want the rings to be to thick... I've never seen a 10" set, only in videos.

Owen 10-inch rings are the best ever.... my set looks like new and I've had 'em maybe 20 years.

I will throw in another vote for Owen rings, although I have used all manner of sizes, weights and manufacturers for the Cellini work with absolutely no problem. It all comes down to your own personal comfort with the rings you are using. Of course you also should be aware (as you obviously are already) that certain sizes/thicknesses will look too large or too small in certain venues/lighting conditions.

The sets of rings that I own and use with regular rotation include the Mikame set, Owens 10" and 12" sets, Van Dokkum 12" set and 12" ReDefine Rings by Jeremy Pei. On the occasion that I am performing in a closer proximity, I may use my "el cheapo" 8" or 10" sets.

Have fun with the Owen rings and the Cellini routine!

Thanks for the kind advices!

I have made my choice: Owens 10"

I wish I could buy a 12" set also from Owens but its just too rich for my blood to get both sets.

BTW, Jay Marshall's routine is excellent! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5y09PKYN1IY

And BTW, Cellini's approach to the linking rings is a very magical discovery I've come across... I would recommend it to anyone, begginer or pro.
