Or so the saying goes over here. Brian O'Driscoll (BOD) played his last home match in an Irish shirt yesterday, with a man-of-the-match performance. Many consider him to be the greatest rugby player to have ever graced the game. Yesterday he became the most capped international player in history, with 140 test appearances. His final game will be next week in Paris, with the 6-Nations championship on the line. It would be a fitting tribute were he to win the Championship in his last game, on the ground where he announced his arrival with a hat-trick 14 years ago.

One Grand Slam, 3 Heineken Cups, 3 Rabo Leagues, 5 Triple Crowns, 4 times Lions tourist (like Allstars, but only every 4 years), Leinster, Ireland and Lions captain. Has come back time and time again from career threatening injuries. He was robbed of his Lions captaincy by a despicable spear tackle by 2 players, just 1 minute into the first test against New Zealand. In the form of his life, it was their best chance to neutralise him.

A yard short of the scintillating pace of his youth, over the last 5 years he has transformed himself into possibly the greatest defender in the game. However, he still has the "softest" hands in the game, with an ability to offload and cushion passes that few can match.

An unbelievably nice guy off the field, he is respected by rugby fans of all nations around the world. A true legend of the game, he will be sorely missed.
