Topic: Looking for an interactive trick involving 6 cards
Message: Posted by: JBiesecker (Mar 29, 2014 10:41AM)
Back in 1997 on World's Greatest Magic 4, Max Maven did a trick in which everyone in the audience had 4 cards to participate with. After going through various moves, and making random choices, everyone ended up with just one card reversed, and it was the same one for everyone. Does anyone know of a way to do this with 6 cards instead of 4?

I actually use custom picture cards instead of tradional playing cards, these are for a normal trick that I do with a volunteer. And I'm looking for an interactive trick to do imeadiatly afterwards where everyone in the audience has these same cards to participate with- preferably where they all end up with the same card reversed, like the one Max Maven did. Or it could be a trick where they all chose one, and find it at the end.

Check out Verbal Magic by Juan Tamariz. It's full of this sort of interactive magic, not sure specifically about 6 cards but there should be something you can use. Plus he provides some tools to help you develop your own interactive magic.

Has anyone seen this book? I was never a fan of his, but I only saw him once. If it does have interactive tricks like this, it may be the answer. I just want to be sure that it teaches "Interactive" magic in which the audience does the trick themselves, as opposed to interacting with the magician to help him find a chosen card.

Also has anyone seen Jim Steinmeyer’s "Impuzzibilities" and "further Impuzzibilities" books? If they have anything with 6 cards, they too may be the answer.

Yes, I've seen the book...

Verbal Magic is entirely "interactive", all of the effects were originally performed by Juan over the radio...

Verbal Magic will likely have an effect with 6 cards (I can't remember off the top of my head), but he will also teach you how to create your own "interactive" effects, so if there isn't one then you'll be able to create your own or adapt one of the other effects to suit.

Woody Aragon has a really very nice interactive effect in his A Book In English - but it uses 4 cards.

I've never read Impuzzibilities, although I've always wanted to.

Rick Lax has a free video on you tube, under lawyer boy, called the interactive six card mystery trick.

Thanks for pointing this out. This is actually very similar to one that I've been doing with 3 cards, but this is the first one I've seen with 6 cards.

At a glance in Verbal Magic:
- There is a combined triumph/oil and water using 6 cards, this is really good... just fooled myself.
- A trick with 6 coins which could be adapted to cards.
- Another card trick which can use six, eight or any even number of cards.

Check out Woody Aragon's too as I bet that could be adapted to 6 cards, and it has a great premise.

I'm curious - did you ever find a suitable effect?

Not yet really. I'm thinking about getting "verbal magic", but the project is kindof on hold for awhile.
