Message: Posted by: kakronen (Jun 14, 2002 07:01AM)
1) Does anyone use halves instead of Silver dollars? I know the larger coins make it easier but does anyone use halves?

2) Also Troy Hooser talks about not using Soft coins but using regular coin sometimes. Has anyone used regular coins instead of Soft coins.

Thanks
KEN

1. Yes.
2. Yes.

Your welcome.

Bigger coins are easier to see - more people can see them - which is good since 3 Fly is a routine that happens chest level and can be used for a group of people.

Soft coins just kill the noise of coins scraping against each other and makes them slide face on face easier. If coins scraping against each other does not mess up your effect, you don't need soft coins.

Does anyone know of a video that has a good 3 fly routine? Someone told me this is a great trick.

Paul Wilson has a version on his video "Knock Em Dead". There's a few other cool coin effects in it too.

In addition to Paul Wilson's "Knock Em Dead" you can see this effect on video in Gary Kurtz "Making Magic" and Curtis Kam's "Palms of Steel"

I don't think Paul Wilson's effect is all that great. I do think it is a good starting point for making up your own. I thought his routine has too many weak points in it. I do like to watch it, however, and think about how I would change it to make it better.
