I want to know of the best site to buy stuff online. I live in Mexico and I want to know a site I can trust.

I second Penguin, they have good prices and quick shipping. Also they have a great amount of products available.

Most magic sites are trustworthy, they just vary in the amount of stock they carry and speed of shipping.

I like Penguin and buy from them and have been happy. They have a cool thing where they send you a video of your order being packed. It is not just a guy in a warehouse packing your order, but more of a performance. You see the packer's arms and they are wearing white gloves. They use hand gestures during the packing. Really cool and creative. It made a nice impression on me. Plus their prices and selection are great.

Penguin is a great shop with wonderful customer service and delivery speed. Generally though if I can find a magician's personal website I always like to purchase direct! Other options might include Theory11.com or Ellusionist.com (though most Café members are wary of E)

Why is it that they are wary of E?

What about Murphy's Magic?
Message: Posted by: Wizard of Oz (Oct 19, 2014 01:35PM)
While a great source for browsing, Murphy's is a wholesaler that sells to dealers only.
Message: Posted by: CraigMcK (Oct 19, 2014 07:09PM)
I didn't know that. I usually buy stuff from the Merchant of Magic which is a UK site but seems to have links with Murphy's Magic. Guess that explains why...

I've never had any problems with Ellusionist.com and they have some great products.
Not all magic sites carry all available products. I say, don't limit yourself to just one site - Penguin is great, but there's a ton of material you can't get from them.
Message: Posted by: Wizard of Oz (Oct 20, 2014 09:11PM)
JayFredericks is right. If your preferred flavor of magic becomes less mainstream, you may find going to the source (the creator) is your best bet. It's not as difficult as it sounds. Just keep your eyes open around here. Read the posts. Look at the ads. A lot of magic creators only offer their effects on their terms on their sites. But to quote an old saying, "There's gold in them thar hills."

Ellusionist has made a few mistakes. And it has riled a few here. However, they have a few unique items, and Brad Christian is one of the best people in the business, in my opinion! Penguin is great! No question. For unique items, check out:

That's just three off the top of my head. There are a LOT more! :)

There is many places to buy out there, but here are some of my favorites and my opinions/info blout them:
Penguin Magic: The "Wal-mart" Of Magic Shops
Murphys Magic: Have great and original effects that give you your moneys worth (from my experience)
Theory11: Great selection of products, care about their customers.
The Magic Apple: Great "Mom and Pop" store.

I have recently started my first experience with MJM (ordered and corresponded about the order, but not yet received). I like them so far...excellent prices, very good customer service (direct from the owner), and the availability of items that Penguin doesn't carry. The shipping has been a little slower but, with the holidays and a smaller operation, I am happy to trade that for the other advantages.

I've had great luck with the online & mail order services from the Magic Emporium. They're located in Tampa, have a great brick & mortar retail store, and have always been super helpful whenever I've ordered from them.

I use our local magic shop Karnevaalishop Aprillia translated as Carnevalshop Aprillia
Message: Posted by: Black Hart (Jan 23, 2015 04:14AM)
If you are interested in something that is a bit different from other magic dealers take a look at Black Artefacts at www.blackhart.co.uk (choose the Black Artefacts option on the menu). We ship world-wide and indeed have many customers who frequent this fine forum. Black Atrefacts effects are exclusive to us and we do not wholesale to any other dealer - that way I keep full control of the quality of my effects and the service that is offered.

We are, so I believe, the only magic dealer in the world who offers a 90-day no quibble money back guarantee on all our items. This means that if for any reason you do not wish to keep an item you have purchased from us you can return it within 90 days of purchase and receive a full refund on the purchase price.

We only want happy and satisfied customers.

Good luck on your magical journey.

I used to buy quite a bit from Daytona Magic, The Magic Warehouse and El Magic Shop (which I believe is now The Magic Apple?) some years back. Most of my books/e-books/DVD's nowadays I buy from L&L publishing. Penguin Magic has very good prices on some books I want. I'm pretty sure I've dealt with them before too. :D

Penguin's customer service is absolutely fantastic! They're my favorite resource for general supplies, books, etc..

Once you get used to navigating your way around online magic suppliers, you'll notice little specialty sites. For example Art Of Play is a fantastic website that is dedicated specifically to unique decks of playing cards. There are a number of small "mom and pop" suppliers that focus on bizarre magic, handmade gimmicks- the list goes on!

Usually Penguin is my first stop, but if there's a specific product I'm looking for I will find different resources for what I need!

P.S.
Product reviews here at the Café will often point you in the right direction for specific products!
