I'm really keen to find out about this board too!
The description is very vague, but the board looks so *** plain.... very interested

Hmm. How many pieces of information can it handle? If it can deal with say 4 or more, that could be useful to me depending on how it looks. Wish there was a performance video, as that "demo" vid on the site told me nothing.

I ordered this on Monday and was excited to see it ship out the first day. I was mainly looking for a writing pad that I could print a logo on. The other features to this will be a bonus to me but I'll write a review up once I have it and can play around with it.
Message: Posted by: vsha2 (Apr 29, 2015 09:12AM)
BitterBrewerAZ, can't wait for the review!
Message: Posted by: Mindpro (Apr 29, 2015 09:40AM)
Yeah the video demo really says nothing - no features, no demonstrations, no information at all. Makes me skeptical.

I have had this for a few weeks now. It was mentioned as being a nice switching tool for Cody Fisher's Comedy Book Test, so I bought it for that reason. While this board will certainly make the ending of Cody's booktest easier, this is nothing more than what it says, its a board. Meaning the board really does nothing other than give you a firm writing surface and its size aids you in performing a switch. (Although its not really a switch, its a move commonly used in card magic, a d****e l**t)

I don't think I am giving anything away here, and if so it is not my intent. Based on the above posts I think others are under the impression that there is something special about this, and I wanted to share that there is nothing special or high tech per say about this board other than it does what I mention above and it does make the ending of the Cody Fisher Booktest easier, which is why I purchased it. I am glad I have it and I will use it, however based on the name of the prop and the vague information about it, I have a feeling some will be disappointed when you receive this, so I wanted to share my opinion.

I hope this helps.

Thanks for that explanation. I too saw it on Cody's Book Test DVD and had the same perceptions. In truth I thought it looked a bit sloppy even in Cody's performance. I was hoping I was missing something. I was thinking it was a switch board or perhaps something like the Biss board or similar. So it's $30 just for a board to use as cover and a writing surface with no specific features? This is exactly what I was wondering.

Very bad demo...!!!

Hey guys so the Pro Board is essentially just a writing surface, however it's something that Anton has developed after hundreds of performances in the real world. For those who don't know, Anton performed at Halloween Horror Nights, where he worked his act more times than I can count. That's where this board came in handy. While it's true that it's just a writing surface, its one that has been designed specifically for magic. It's the perfect size, its durable, and it's been designed to help with some super secret moves that you need for some routines. Plus it's perfect for branding, so you can customize it for any event. Like I said a lot of thought went into this, and if you're a working pro, you'll understand the benefits this has.

Hope that helps!

No clue how this is being sold for $30. As stated above, it doesn't do anything. You don't ever write on it.

Re cody's book test, I recently found dry erase poster board. It's perfect for his routine.

Can I ask if the accompanying online video tips on getting the most of your board and brain storming info worthwhile?

Hi Fellow Magi,

If any of you are looking for a superb switching tool which will fulfil a multitude of requirements when it comes to switching in predictions, billets, playing cards etc. I can wholeheartedly recommend The Conversus Clipboard by Steve Pelligrino. It is an excellent utility device which can be made up for a few pounds and will, I am sure, find a use in a multitude of mental effects, etc.
The Conversus Clipboard manuscript is available by download from that veritable goldmine of magical publications www.lybrary.com

Hope this helps.

Proboard is nothing but a sleight... which is weird because it's a basic sleight (used with cards, wallets, notepads, etc) and it's being sold as something else.

$30 for it? I think this should be given for FREE not sold...

I almost bought this as it's advertised as a switching device. It isn't it's a piece of whiteboard and you are taught a slight that everyone knows.Any old clipboard/whiteboard from staples could be described as a switching device.Very naughty indeed I'm sorry this is pushing the limits of advertising something that it definitely isn't.
Message: Posted by: The Duster (Jun 6, 2017 12:01PM)
I'm interested if anyone has this

And they still use it

Or they can suggest why it's worth buying

As it is advertised as a switching device but obviously isn't gimmicked

So not sure how it actually helps

I've just bought the Anton James at the table lecture so will watch there to see if there is any help in working out if this is worth a purchase

I did look at the section in the Comedy Booktest... but it was just a super short plug for the ProBoard with no hints as to how it would help with the effect

Anyway - if anyone has any feedback or a review - negative or positive - I would be most interested

Ha, yeah that's why I was asking...

Remember you also get 5% loyalty bonus at Saturn.

I just watched the At the Table

I think if you buy the right card stock, it should work quite well.

Especially for comedy routines - where people are not so interested in how you did something

He is marketed as 'The Naked Mentalist' - but when he uses the ProBoard to switch an add a number 'prediction' - I felt like he's changing a mentalism effect into a magic trick [not my thing or the way I want to present an effect]

But for a comedy 'switch' - I think it is good [for me]

I just need to have a think of whether it will also have uses [for mentalism effects I want to do] - as [not to be rude to magicians] I don't want to 'cheapen' my serious sections with 'ta dah' switches

As this is not for switching billets etc

This is for writing something... the audience sees that... then doing a DL... so the next time it's revealed it's not what they thought it was

So in that way it's not good for amentalist to show them a prediction that then changes

Unless your schtick is you are a time traveling mentalist

The board helps the DL in a couple of ways [size, and firmness]

I think ut's durable

And easy to write on

This isn't a review but what I got from the At the Table

Anyone bought one and got more feedback [?]

p.s. only 12.99 at Saturn

If any of you subscribe to Cody Fisher's new free video newsletter, he showed a little more in his first video about the working of the board when he was showing updated tips and ideas for his book test.

I got my Proboard today and I got very disappointment.
If I have seen this post before buying it then I probably won't buy it.
It is like other say just a board with no gimmick on it, so you can buy any board for nickel and dimes and just cut it to the size of it.
If the board at least would have come with some writing cards with it then maybe it was worth the money, but to start using it I now have to start searching the right cards with no sample at my hands only the cards I can see in the video and the size Anton say, that don't fit in my country so I have to convert the size to metric system to know the right size.
I think for the price you pay for a simple board you have to get at least 10 cards and video that show live or studio routine and not only explanation of what is this board with one or two talking sample what you can do with it.
Anton made other good magic like Shuffled and MSP Deck that I also bought with this order of Proboard and as much that I liked those two other I did not like what I got with this order, plain board with instruction how to use it after I buy cards that fit if I mange to find those cards.
If only I could get a link to where I can find those cards that ship worldwide, but even this simple thing is not on the video or in the stuff you get.
As I said, this board cost no more then 5$ tops and you can do it yourself, so there is really no reason to pay so much for it.

Yeah

I got mine as it was in a daily deal at Saturn 12.99

http://www.saturnmagic.co.uk/the-black-hole/pro-board-by-anton-james-and-the-magic-estate--trick.html

I don't know if it's on the vidoes - but before I bought it I watched the At the Table with A James

In that he says what the 'paper'/card is - you need to get [I think 16 point, and the size - will check again when I order it]

If you are a mentalist [not a mgician] I think it's usefull [for easy DL for Sexchange or Comedy Book test] for any comedy routine idea you have

So I saw that value in it

At 12.99

I still think it would be bad to use it in a serious mentalist routine [other than some DR thing - but I hate DR]

Anyway if the size and thickness isn't on the videos - c heck out his at the table

Hi,

I have seen it too, but searching for this paper brought to me no result other then business cards size. A$ or something close for it is hard to find.

If I know how much it wight (gr) then it might help me more them 16 point paper.

I guess I need a matte paper A4 260 Gr but all I can find in matte is Max 190 in my country or Ebay, so a link for a place ship worldwide would have been great.

I also bought it on sale on Saturnmagic, but still I think that at least one example **** with a place to refill was in place and that is my biggest disappointment.

Thank for the help The Duster

Right

if I remember it's '16 point matt finish' [?] - I will check before I order

but my plan is to order it [at the correct size] from a printer - I've used one for years for flyers/posters/etc

so it's easy as 'can I have this [one side my design] rest blank white, on 16 point matt finish'

I'm not sure if high street printers will do that [they probably will]

But the places people make orders from direct - will

If you are just after plain paper [no design] it should be cheaper to buy a ream/100 pack, though to get the lowest price - you may have to buy it slightly bigger and cut it to size [?]

Like you I have never heard of 16 point before - but 14 and 16 point seem to be fairly normal sizes [on google] for biz cards or wedding invites... seems to be a whopping 360gsm

Message: Posted by: Eitay (Jun 13, 2017 01:07AM)
Hi

That table is very useful, now I know 360 gsm (16 pt.) so that is what I have to look for A4 look like good size Matt 360gr, hope I can find it now :)

Thanks my fried!

I purchased it as well to use with Cody's book test, and was surprised that was all that came with it. Watching Cody's newsletter, he gave some good information on using this board with his book test. For the price ($30.00), I thought there was more to it than what I got. I thought it was gimmicked. The instructions were pretty basic. I learned more about the board in Cody's newsletter than what's provided. For this price, it probably should have had some extras with it (routines / supplies), but it seems sturdy.

For a worker, this makes sense, but for amateurs like me, I could have passed on this and just used what Cody talked about on the DVD. However, I have it now, and will use it. I've made worse purchases than this, so I don't consider it a bad purchase, just wasn't what I expected... In no way does it make it a bad product in my opinion.

Can this also be used as a dry erase board. Just curious if the material would allow for this.
Message: Posted by: sgtgrey (Jul 30, 2017 01:23PM)
I probably wouldn't - but you could always modify it slightly by using dry erase laminate adhesive sheets to turn it into a board that could be used with dry erase markers. Just a thought...

Just stick to using a whiteboard of the same size

Hey People, we get ripped off enough. When a device is sold to the public (us) The people selling the product should at least advertise that to use it, you need items from the local art supply
or stationary store or specifically you need to purchase other items which are not supplied with the product.
