Topic: Mentalist's Vocabulary Flashcards by Tenyo

I know, I know... Tenyo?

I'm not positive what the English name of the effect will be, but these pocket-sized flashcards for learning Japanese words and characters allow you to draw what someone is thinking. You can do it twice in a row, under increasingly fair conditions. The cards are all different, can be given a cursory look-through, and may be shuffled before each choice is made. The second choice may be made with the performer out of the room (he'll need to return to reveal what he drew while absent).

These are about the size of business cards. The backs are solid red with a white border. They are punched on one end and come hanging on a keyring. You remove them from the keyring before handing them to your participant for mixing and choosing. Each card shows a Japanese word, its kanji symbol, and its English equivalent. You can actually expand your Japanese vocabulary using these  flashcards.

I fooled people who should have known better with this Tenyo  effect. I believe it was released in Japan a couple of years ago, and will be released in the U.S. by early December. It's part of a mental line of 8 effects that also includes a no-math-required, close-up magic square and the easiest ESP cards I've seen for reading at a distance.

Keep your eyes peeled for the official release.

I've been looking for this as well, it looks like February 3rd is the date shops are expecting it in. I've checked 4 places, 3 stated it will be in stock on that date, the 4th did not have an "in stock" or "out of stock" notice for this, or any product, so I am leery that they have it.

Looks like Penguin is expecting it on the 3rd also...

The price is right, so I'll probably check it out.
