Requiescat in pace, Don!

See ya down the road on the big lot, where the grass is always green, the lot is always flat, and, every day is a red one!

What a shock. I only knew Don from his posts, but feel as if I lost a friend.

He was a fun, kind fellow, and he lives on in all the guys he broke in in person and through his videos. Goodbye, Don...

Wow, that is very sad to hear. We knew of each other thru our mutual friend "Doc Jon" Deems. I wish we could have had more time to share some more stories. Rest in Peace.

It has taken me a bit of time to even want to write this, but I wanted to say that I knew Don quite well. Though not a wealthy man by any means, he gave away pretty much every bit of his magic that he had collected to kids who were just beginning. He paid the postage and everything, and believe me, some of the boxes were *large*! He was a great teacher to these young folk as well. He also gave of himself when the whole busking thing became more mainstream, and there are hundreds of buskers who benefited from Don's help and advice. He sent me photos of his 'days in the sun' hanging from a chain above the water in Baltimore, neatly dressed in his straight jacket. He also had photos of he and Siegfried and Roy and others. Yes, many of us knew an older man with emphysema, but Don had a great history too. He was great friends with Mike Skinner and many of the West Coast guys, and as many of you know, the guy was a great pitchman. He was the precursor to all of those guys on TV who hawk Cham Wows and OxyClean. He has a place our history and he will be remembered fondly. He was also a killer joke teller, and every conversation that I ever had with him was about 30% Don talking, 60% me laughing and 10% me talking. He was a hilarious guy and I will always miss him fondly. He sent me one of his performance shirts from the old days, and I treasure it as I would any of our more famous magi. Finally, hearing that I was a disabled vet, Don sent me every project that he ever released and would never take a dime from me. I did send him some old music and movie DVDs since he loved them both. Here's to you Don, you were certainly one of a kind.

Don Driver messaged me when I was a young teenager, complimenting me on a table I had built for busking. This man was a legend in his own right, and then in the eyes of every single person he spoke to. He changed my life forever and I am forever proud to have been considered a student of his. He was truly special, and truly kind. I miss my best friend so much
