Hey gang,

My pal Stan Allen is already hard at work preparing for MAGIC LIVE! 2018 - are you ready?
I know I'll be there - will you? ;)

From Stan himself;

Simply put, MAGIC Live is an adventure.

Our team works year-round to find new ways to surprise you, to offer something unexpected, to create an environment for you to share time with new friends and old — and to send everyone home inspired.

MAGIC Live is not your average convention. Yes, we book amazingly talented people, but then we manage to get them to do things they normally don’t do at a magic convention. Whether it’s sharing a personal moment during a General Session or teaching the real work for the first time in a Focus Session or performing a new piece onstage, close-up, or in one of our special venues — these presenters and performers are willing to jump out of their comfort zone to help build something special, something “beyond convention.”

This will be the tenth time that we’ve gathered to share the art of magic and the friendships it brings us. And for the tenth time, we will be adventurous. We will take risks. We will try new things. We will “walk on the wire,” if you will. All with the goal to create the best possible experience in magic.

I hope you will join us. :)

August 5th thru the 8th, 2018
The Orleans Hotel
Las Vegas, Nevada USA

This is the 10th Edition of our little “one-time-only, never-to-be-repeated” convention with 1,599 of your friends attending.

Registrations went on sale to the magic public today (Tuesday, November 7th, at Noon PT). (Alumni Registration, for anyone who attended in 2017, opened a few days ago and already 60% of the spots are taken.)

Even though acts are not announced in advance, the convention sells out quicker and quicker each year.

Registration is $435 USD. A $95 USD deposit holds your spot until February 1, 2018, with a 90% refund available through May 15, 2018.

Even though the registration is higher than most (and well worth it!), the Orleans Hotel has the best room rates of the year: just $46 per night during the convention, plus room tax and resort fee.

When you combine registration and that amazing room rate, MAGIC Live is one of the best bargains of the year.

Whos going to magic live aug 5?
Message: Posted by: psychod (Nov 11, 2017 11:26AM)
As of right now, I'm planning on going. It will be my fourth although I missed last year. Personally, I like that it is earlier in August as it will be less likely to interfere with back to college plans for my daughter.

Schools nationwide seem to be starting earlier and earlier, which is why we're moving MAGIC Live earlier in August. It seems to be working, as we're just shy 75% filled. Hope you can make it.

Wow 75% I'm sure this will be a special year b/c of the 10 anniversary!!!

Hi stan how many spots available for magic live 2018
Message: Posted by: Stan Allen (Dec 5, 2017 02:07PM)
80% of the spots are now gone, which leaves a little over 300 available. That sounds like a lot, but we had 1,600 available a few weeks ago. :)
FYI: $95 holds your place until February 1st, and there's a 90% refund through May 15th. Thanks...

I wish I could make Magic Live in 2018, but I'm unable.

I'm hoping to use my time share to go to a Magic Live very soon. I'll save my gambling time and money for after the event. That's the plan anyway. I miss playing 3 card poker.
Message: Posted by: Stan Allen (Dec 7, 2017 09:20AM)
Sorry you can't make it. Good luck with that Three Card Poker!

I'm going and it's my first magic convention ever. I've been doing magic for four years and I'm in my forties. Excited to experience this and grow in my magic.

Let me start off by saying that I love Magic Live and I've been to every convention for the last 6 or 7 years I think.

I don't mean to be negative but I wonder if there were others that were bit disappointed by last year's Magic Live? I thought that the live shows were some of the weakest that I've seen at Magic Live. In the past, I've always walked away feeling like the live shows were probably the best shows I've ever seen, even rivaling big Vegas magic shows. I can understand some technical glitches, (which there were a few), but several of the acts were just sub-par. It made me worried the quality was being diminished by the move to yearly shows instead of every 2 or 3 years. I hope this isn't the case and that last year was simply an aberration. I'm really looking forward to this years show and hope that it's up to the standards that existed in years past.

Thanks for your message and kind words about MAGIC Live! And I don't think you're being negative in any way. In fact, I agree that our stage shows last year just didn't come off as well as we did on paper. We've identified a couple problems that contributed, and plan on doing better in 2018. Thanks for your support, and please let me know how we do.

Hi Stan. I'm so glad that you recognized the issue and have made plans to address it. That makes me look forward to this years Magic Live even more!

Hi Stan This is the first Magic Live I will be attending. All I heard about it is great stuff, That is until I read these messages. I for one will be looking forward to it. Maybe because I have nothing to compare it to and for that I am happy. How can it be a poor convention when its in the middle of Vegas with all the top name Magicians and Entertainers all around you. Stan I wish all the best to you and your group for a mighty successful convention, and yup, I guess that's because I am going to be there. Looking forward to learning great stuff and enjoying super performances. I forgot to say this is Norman (N J) Holtz children and family entertainer (C Florida)

I forgot to ask who will be the lecturers, what dealers will you have in the dealer room, will a schedule be sent to us? Thank you for the information
Message: Posted by: psychod (Apr 22, 2018 11:33AM)

Congrats on coming to your first Magic Live. This will be my fourth and I've loved every one of them. As far as the lecturers, we won't know until we are actually there. That's part of the surprise. Once we get a bit closer to the actual event, there is usually a list of the dealers who will be attending. As far as a schedule, you will get sent an e-mail when you will get to choose (depending on how early you registered) what time you'd like to see the shows. There is a general session every day that everyone gets to attend (two groups-am and pm) and then there are a variety of break out sessions where you choose the ones that most interest you. There are also various shows each evening. It really will be an amazing time!

I was hoping someone who attended Magic Live last year could help me out with something. If you were at Magic Live last year, you know that after one of the morning lecture sessions they gave each attendee a U.S. Postal Service pin featuring 1 of the 5 designs from the 'Art Of Magic' stamps that came out during the dates of the convention (I'm sure you all know which ones I'm referring to).

In addition to the one I was given, I was able to get 2 of the other designs. So far I have 'Production'(Rabbit in Hat), 'Transformation'(Dove) & 'Vanishing'(Empty BirdCage)

The 2 I still need are:
'Levitation'(Floating Lady), and 'Prediction'(Magician wearing Turban) ***See photo below

If anyone can help me find the 2 I'm missing, I would really appreciate it.
You can PM me here or email me at acortest@hotmail.com

Thanks a lot for your help!
