Topic: Is anyone still performing Devastation by Geoff Williams? |
|
||
A decade ago, Devastation by Geoff Williams was all the rage. Nowadays I don't see it mentioned very often at all, although Big Blind Media did include it in their "Ultimate Self Working Card Tricks" Vol 3 DVD (2014). Is anyone still performing this at all, and is it standing the test of time? |

I never learned this because I couldn't find it in print. I saw it done a long time ago but I don't remember the effect. |

It can be found on his DVD Miracles for Mortals, (Volume 2). To my knowledge, the following effects use the same basic principle: "4,5,6 Packet Trick" in Sal Piacente's Expert Card Magic Lecture Notes, (Volume 2) "Three Piles Trick" in Hugard's Royal Road to Card Magic (pp.71-73) |

Dang. I don't watch DVDs or downloads. Books only for me. Thanks for the other references. |

Devastation was in print before there were the DVD's. It is still available in the compilation of Geoff's first two sets of lecture notes called No Adult Supervision. You can get the notes at Lybrary.com . A hardcopy can be had directly from Geoff at https://gwilliamsmagic.wixsite.com/gwproducts/notes Devastation is actually a Tom Daugherty trick made popular by Geoff Williams. |

Devastation is an amazing trick. I love it. "We meet again, Dr. Jones" by Atlas Brookings has similarities to Devastation. |

I think it was in his Penguin Lecture too. |

I learned it on one of the Self Working videos from Big Blind Media. Great Effect. |

I learned this effect in Big Blind Media's Ultimate Self working tricks V3 & I was in love with it! Such a great effect. This made me go back n re learn it. Thank you |

I second Dr. Jones. I perform both versions regulary. |

I love it! It Devastates a spectator, and is repeatable for another spectator, although I usually follow it up with Zingone 12 card mental problem... If I follow it up at all! |

I do it with a MD and it is killer. |

Moreover, I prefer to just ask the spectator, after the shuffle, to take a small packet of cards, around a quarter of the deck, avoiding the creation of 4/5 packets. I really love this effect! |
