Topic: A couple questions from a new guy

Hello folks,
Now that I'm retired, I find myself really wanting to pick up 2 of my favorite childhood hobbies. Ventriloquism and magic.
When I was about 12 I had a Charlie McCarthy and did the basics. Well, time, marriage, kids, and career came along and it went to the wayside.
What training tools would you suggest? I've seen a few online like Maher Studios and Lee Cornell.
Also the character I have in mind is a dog, specifically a long eared Basset Hound looking one. Could someone point me in the right direction?
Thank you all so much. I'm sure I'll have more questions.

Bob

Hi, Bob, and welcome back to magic and vent!

The Maher course, now curated by Tom Crowl, is excellent. And Axtell Expressions makes just the type of puppet you’re looking for.

Bob,
I signed up for Tom's course about 2 weeks ago and actually just ordered a Basset from Axtell.
Great minds think alike!

Steve. I will for sure. I'm so excited and will be using my Basset Hound when I do visits to our local Children's Hospital. I've learned a lot from watching your videos and have some fun ideas in mind. Your products are so impressive and life like....amazing.
Thank you

Bob
