New From AirShip Magic. Improved Brass Locking Ball & Tube

https://airshipmagic.com/store/home/143-improved-locking-brass-ball-tube-effect.html

Ad Copy:

You show a brass tube and a steel ball, the ball is clearly too large to fit in the tube.
However on your command the ball slowly sinks down into the tube. Now on your command the ball slowly rises back to the top of the tube.
You now immediately hand out the props for examination!
They will find nothing, and will not be able to get the ball to go into the tube - it wonít fit.
No switching!

Instant Reset
Nothing to ditch
Improved Locking System
Can be examined Before and After Performance

Says Improved Locking System but I would be curious how it differs from the previous model put out by Johnson Products?
Which I already own.

Johnson mass produced them spitting them out on a CNC. The precision was off on a lot of them. The locking mech. was too tight and would jam.

I turn these on a manual Jet lathe the threads have been refined. My attention to precision is powered by my OCD. The threading of the gaff
is a smoother. I have to say, and I don't like doing it, but this beats anything on the market today. Each tube takes about 90 minutes to make.
We have a CNC machine here and could spit them out like not tomorrow like Johnson did, but there is a quality and precision loss because the
pieces are not matched and machined at the same time. Each tube I make is two matched precision pieces.

I'm not bragging on my own work, but I am Proud of what I can offer for reasonable prices for a Classic effect.

Kindest Regards,
Jake Jr.

Sweet! Another airship product I need to start saving for.

Okay, I just bought one. One more vote for Jake's OCD-driven excellence!

Thanks for the info Jake Jr.
You do excellent work at very reasonable prices.
I wish there were more magic manufacturers who listened to feedback from their customers as much as you do.

I can never understand why so many magic manufacturers choose to have an almost adversarial relationship with their customers (such as T-boys, but there are certainly many others.)

Long live Airship Magic!!!

I also will be ordering one today. Of all the items I've been buying (I'm a newbie so I've been going a little crazy buying things) the things I've bought from Jake are the best quality by far.

Iíve never had any interest in this effect/plot but picked this up. Looks great quality and seems like a nice pocket effect.

Purchased three of these gems.. One for my self and two for my teen sons. My 16 year old who is in his senior year of high school will do this for his physics teacher.

I just received my Brass Locking Ball and Tube. All I can say is quality, quality, quality.
Message: Posted by: Mad Jake (Sep 19, 2019 02:23PM)
Thank you to all that ordered. We're all caught up on shipping so everyone should be getting theirs in the next day or two. The quality comes from making each set by hand on a lathe
and not using a CNC on them.

The delay was because of Hurricane Dorian, we were shut down for 12 days. It took us 5 days to secure the shops for the hurricane and another 5 to put them all back together for production.
We're very sorry about this, but this is mother nature's fault this time. Living right on the water isn't always as glamorous as it sounds.

Kindest Regards,
Jake Jr.

Great quality. Iíve never had this effect before so I didnít know the method. If I hadnít read the instructions, I would never have found the method. The precision is that good.
Message: Posted by: John7 (Sep 20, 2019 07:02PM)
I've ordered one and intend to spend a while toodling with it without reading the instructions to see if I can figure it out. Only way to replicate what a spectator will experience. Once you know you can never unknow.

Wow! It is exquisite. I do not know how Mad Jake does it but his Improved Brass Locking Ball & Tube is a real masterpiece and work of art. He is a true craftsman.

Jake, I closely examined all the product photos on your website--I think I will take a brass Ball n Tube, three shimmed poker chips, and your brother's severed scrotum.

Asked and answered on first page.

It was stated earlier by Jake that he does each one manually instead of on a CNC machine. Each one is essentially handmade in order to better hide the gimmick

@Mad Jake... How is the trade/barter section coming along on Airship Magic?
Message: Posted by: rosariorose9 (Sep 21, 2019 10:56AM)
Tried to order, but could not complete the purchase. Screen said "Offline".

Edit: Well, it just went through. Not sure what the problem was, but all's well that ends well.

Ordered both the brass & stainless steel.
Message: Posted by: videoman (Sep 21, 2019 03:07PM)
I prefer the color color contrast of the brass tube & silver ball. Plus, I like the presentational possibilities of how the different metals can attract or repel, etc.
But itís always nice to have options. Thanks Jake, Jr.

Here's something I make each year in a limited edition of 13 units each Halloween. It's a cute little effect that is good year round or bizarre workers.

To the gentlemen who put orders in today or last night for the Ball & Tube, thank you for your purchase and support.

I love Jakes quality of workmanship and I am thinking of purchasing this .
Is this really self working as is says no ditching or switching ?
I have an older version from years ago ( not made by Jake ) , however that version requires a ditch . Thanks for any clarification , best wishes Gaz 🙂

Gaz, thank you for your kind words. I don't false advertise :) No Switch, No Ditch it's all self contained. To my knowledge, Brema was the first to make one
like this and he did it the same I do, by hand on a lathe. The gimmick is hidden and the unit can be handed out before and right after the ball floats back to the top
of the tube. Like all my pieces, if you're not happy with it, return it. If it breaks you send it back and I replace it. I usually don't ask for returns in most cases but
if did break, (not in my lifetime probably) I like to see where and what might have caused it to malfunction.

I really appreciate all the people that made this feel worthwhile bringing back to the market as the Magic Maker and China versions are nightmares and very
poorly made.

Best to everyone, have a Happy Sunday,
Jake Jr.

Sorry for showing up to the party late on this question, I missed it. The Barter and Trade is going to
Start in Jan. 1, 2020. We're still working on some legalities and running it past our attorney at the wish
of my brother. Thanks!

I ordered one and have been thinking of some comic patter. Will probably be something like this.

One of my hobbies is collecting movie memorabilia. I just recently received some items intended for the movie Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, but sadly these props didn't make the final cut of the movie. Let's see what's in the box. Hmmm. (Prepare a small cardboard box with mail packaging. Take out the different pieces and some folded literature you will make up. Be sure to have a water bottle on hand.) (Examine the pieces. Crack some eye jokes such as "This eye seems smaller than expected. It must be de-eye-drated!" Horrible joke ... eye know.) (Get to the literature. It could be some kind of auction slip etc. Read it off.)
It says these props were intended to be part of a transfiguration spell in the movie. First we are to assemble the apparatus like so. And place the eye like this. Fill it up with distilled water. And cover like so. Next we have to chant together...Eye of Rabbit...Harp String Hum...Turn this Water Into Rum. Nope nothing happened. Let's try again. (Go through the procedure. Do some crazy hand gestures and have spectators do the same. Get them to hum like a harp. Maybe joke about how some golden rum would be good right now. Reveal that the eye has disappeared. Check the literature. Read the fine print saying that the water needs to be distilled because it will keep the eye "still" or else it will translocate nearby. Reveal the damp eye. Finish the routine)

Something like that.

Excellent eye dea John .
Really nice script and patter Gaz 🙂
Message: Posted by: Wravyn (Sep 23, 2019 06:25AM)
Eye second Gaz's comment.

Though might I suggest instead of using translocate, perhaps... It will blink somewhere...

Dang. Got my brass & stainless steel tube & ball gems. And they are gems. Slum magic at their most exquisite form; these are props that have never existed before in such craftsmanship. I have an insane way of presenting them that pleases me beyond my initial expectations. Thanks Jake! You rock!

Is anyone using this with Docc Hilford's routine of Ball and Tube?
Message: Posted by: Rick Martin (Oct 15, 2019 09:13PM)
I mostly just read the forum but feel the need to post about this. Thank you to the members who posted the great reviews of the Ball and Tube from AirShip. That alone prompted me to order one which came in today. I am experienced with manual precision machine work and have made a basic ball and tube but I was stunned by the quality of this piece. Virtually undetectable even knowing what it is and how it works! Now to get comfortable with it and start using it. I will have a look at your other products after seeing the quality work.

Regards,
Rick

Hi,
Just to add to what others have said this is a well crafted affect. The attention to detail in the machining is spot on, so good you can't notice it...which is the point.
I have practiced using Docc Hilford's method and it seems to work, especially with the silver ball provided, if you mention that the reflection in the ball gets smaller towards the middle and get them the concentrate on that, now low and behold so does the ball!

A word of warning I dropped a part of mine on a hard floor and now I can't hand it out as I have put a flat spot on a thin part of the tube, which can be seen :-(

All in all a good pocket affect, nice little ice breaker 10 / 10 for construction.
Thanks Jake.
