Oil and WHAT THE... is a stunning update to a classic of card magic. Red and black cards are clearly interlaced one by one, and with not even the hint of a suspicious move, the blacks VISUALLY melt through the reds. What is even more amazing is that this beautiful routine can be done with ZERO difficult sleights. Both the sleight-of-hand and semi-automatic versions have the same mind-bending visual finale, and the fine points of both are taught in expert detail.

Takeshi Taniguchi has long been considered one of Japan's greatest cardicians, and in his first international release you get the chance to find out why.
Running time: 22 minutes

It will be available at ticmagic.com from Feb 14th and priced at $4.95

What am I missing? To me, the odd handling made it slightly confusing as to what colors were where when the cards were stacked, then, half the cards are covered when the visual finale takes place. Dunno- I didn't think it looked great.

Its really hard to improve on Anthony Owens.

Best

I do think it is pretty clear what colors where where...
But in an way I agree:
This might not be the strongest trick for a lay audience.
But from a magicians point of view: this is beautiful.

Yes, although Takeshi usually uses this as the third part of a longer (more standard) routine. The nice thing about it is that since it uses regular cards, it can be incorporated into any existing O+W routine you already do.

It reminds me a little of my "Hole" method although I think the methods are different.

I've been on an Oil and Water tick lately, and can't pass this up for a few bucks.

My reaction too. Wasn't sure what was supposed to be where, so not at all clear what's surprising or magical about it. I might still pick it up for $5 though, just to understand the thinking and see if there are more applications here.

For those who have already bought Oil and WHAT THE... there is now an additional antifaro O+W which has been added to the download free of charge!
(Of course, if you haven't bought it yet then it will come with both tricks). A performance of the bonus effect can be seen on the product page

https://theimpossibleco.com/product/oilandwhatthe/

Here is also a little face-up variation Takeshi has been playing with which you should be able to do once you've learned the original Oil and WHAT THE...

And it's still just $4.95 for everything :)

Is the antifaro taught in the bonus effect? Or it assumes one is already familiar with it? He seems to have different touches on it.

The antifaro isn't his to teach, so he rightly directs people to the source (Christian Engblom's DVD), however as you say he does perform it slightly differently to the original. It's worth noting though that the antifaro doesn't need to be perfect for the effect to work, so even if you haven't got it completely mastered from top to bottom you should still be able to do the effect.

It's impressive but too movey/showy

I agree that Anthony Owens is the cleanest. I still love Oil and Queens if I'm gonna perform an oil and water effect

Can someone direct me to where to buy "Hole" by Darko? Thanks!
