Topic: Selling apparatus from plans???
Message: Posted by: psychod (Apr 21, 2020 02:45PM)
First, let me apologize if this has been addressed before. I did a cursory look and did not see anything on this topic. My question is, If you buy the plans for an apparatus and you then build and sell the apparatus (giving appropriate credit) is that ethical? In this case, I'm assuming that the person producing the plans does not say anything about this idea one way or the other. I'd appreciate advice/suggestions from others.

Thank you in advance, and please stay safe and sane during the COVID situation,

Dave

I really don't know. But I don't see anything wrong building one for personal use & selling it once you no longer have use for it (as long as the creator has not kept manufacturing rights like in the example I found below).

Why make an assumption? Contact the person who holds the rights on those plans. In general, commercial rights are NOT granted by the purchase of plans.
