I saw the Pendragons perform this. I'm completely fooled by this, and I illustrated one of the Sam Sharp books. I'm not after the secret...I like not knowing, but would like info such as who invented it and when. I'm assuming the Pendragons didn't invent it.

The Pendragons were incredible innovators and made big improvements in several illusions. One of my favorites is the new gimmick for the Broom Suspension which eliminates a lot of the funny looking movements with prior versions.

The name of the sawing illusion is "Clearly Impossible". I don't recall the details of its history off the top of my head, but I do recall it was covered in their amazing DVDs, The Magic of the Pendragons. In it they walk through the thinking and inspiration for their most famous illusions.

Thank you Frank. So it was Jonathan ! Years ago Meir Yedid, an old acquaintance from before the flood, kind of teased me that I couldn't figure it out. I only saw it once, but am still fooled.

LOL. Meir did a lecture for our local IBM Ring just a few months ago. What a great sense of humor he has.

I was lucky to catch the Pendragons a couple times live. It was pure ENERGY. Here's the really incredible thing: even if other magician duos knew their innovative methods they probably couldn't replicate them. This is because of how physically demanding their approach was to illusions. They took full advantage of their body building, gymnastics, stuntman, and professional dance skill sets.

Did you know that Jonathan Pendragon was Belushi's stunt double for the famous church dance scene in the Blues Brothers?

No, I didn't, Frank. Wow. I recall how fast their Sub-Trunk was. Hey, I spoke to Meir not too long ago to congratulate him about a Twisting Aces with a Color Backs kicker he put out. I also am in regular touch with my old friend Jeff McBride who has become friends with David Copperfield out in Las Vegas. I always say "Don't tell me how it works" (about all tricks really). That way I know I'm not perceived as being "after their secrets". Also it gives me something to muse about. Many of Copperfield's pieces fool me badly. I read Jim Steinmeyer's Hiding the Elephant or what. Some illusions seem obvious but there are many that fool me. I'm a sleight-of-hand guy so Illusions fooling me doesn't threaten my ego. Well, I wish Jonathan well. Him I never met. My old friend Charles Reynolds knew him and mentioned him from time to time.

As far as I know plans are not available.

Bill Smith and Daniel Summers are both authorized builders.
