I am currently researching and assembling material on the history of the effect commonly known as the Jumbo Sidekick (aka The Cook Table, On-Target, Dead-Eye, Miracle Missiles, Shot Through the Heart (David Copperfield’s version), Sidekick, and finally Jumbo Sidekick (for the jumbo cards used).

Do you have any knowledge first hand of this effect that would be pertinent to my article on it's history and development?

Thanks so much.

George Robinson, owner of Collectors Workshop and Viking Magic, would be the only source I know that would be able to give you the full story behind this illusion.

He is on my list of those to contact next. I thought Rich Block had passed away but someone told me they thought not. Does anyone know whether he or Nick are still around?

I am also looking for an interview with Rich Block in the March 2002 Magic Magazine that I need to examine. Does anyone have a copy of Magic 2002 and could send me a copy of the article? Is it digitized anywhere? Anyone?

Thanks so much.

Searching the web, found a website that lists his Estate items. Usually that means he has passed away.

I also thought I read of his passing.

Do you know that the ORIGINAL version of this trick was an IBM new trick award winner invented by theatrical scene designer, faux painter and magician Christian Thee. He lives in Charleston, SC. https://www.facebook.com/ChristianTheeandAssociates/ His original model of the trick was stolen from a car in NYC many years ago.

Yes, I knew that and have been talking to Christian and his associates about On-Target. I didn't know about the theft.

I'm trying to put a timeline together with all the players, Christian Thee, George J. Cook (deceased), Phil Stagg (deceased), Richard Block (deceased), Nick Regareo (believe deceased), David Copperfield, and George Robinson. I will probably try to interview the people in China who are making the knock-off just as a point of reference. It is hard to get information from a dead man so if anyone knows their estate or families, please let me know.

The effect has a long history and there are many references to it in magic documents however, no one has pulled it all together before until now. It is a challenge!

The entire run of MAGIC is digitized and available online to Genii subscribers.
