I went to the Texas Association of Magicians convention over Labor Day weekend. I had hoped to make it to Houdini Days, but that did not work out. I ended up going to TAOM in Houston because it ended up being a lot cheaper for me. Anyway, I entered the stage competition, and decided I wanted to do my Melt-Thru-Manacles routine in the act. I did "regular" magic, too, but the entire second half of my act was the handcuff routine. While I didn't win the competition (I didn't enter to win this one, but to get out there, have fun, and show everyone that escapes at a magic convention can be entertaining), I can't count the number of people who came up to me after the competition and told me how much they liked "that thing you did with the handcuffs." I don't know if my friends asked all these people to do that to build up my confidence or not, but it was nice to hear that people enjoyed my stuff. Now, I've got several magicians who liked the handcuff routine and want to work with me on making it an award winning act. Although, I don't think anyone will forget me, soon. May not remember my name, but I'm sure they will remember the lady with the handcuffs! I was having pictures taken with me handcuffed to other people, then people started coming up to me wanted pictures handcuffed to me!

So, guess I'm going to start working on an act to enter in competitions! They can be a lot of stress, but they can also be a lot of fun!

Way to go Lady,I like your attitude!

Put together a short "Show Stopper" act,
practice untill you can do it in your sleep,
and when you win your first contest(not IF)
you will be on your way up the ladder of success!

If I can help in any way,let me know!

Way to go Margarette! Good Show!!

I agree with the one and only, Mr. Baker! You keep putting it in their faces and you are bound to win! You are a winner!

Maybe next year you can defray your expenses by charging a small fee to have a photo made handcuffed to you!

Why wait till next year? Great idea Harry! Margarette can do it...Steve is correct as well...get the act TIGHT as a drum, put in an element that only you can pull off and you're in...

Hey Harry...Too bad you and I couldn't draw flies for that photo op tip.
(I know speak for myself!) Maybe if I lose a hundred pounds and dye the hair red and drop 30 years...nah...
