Hi I have been trying to work out a way to do this for years. Premis - the escape move from Crazy mans hancuffs. Using two cards one held between tip forefinger and tip thumb, and the other inside it as per CMH held the same way. How is it possible? A copy of my new effect "FARONELL" to the best idea. I will try to enlist a jury to decide the winner Paula |

One nice idea already PMed to me. Gaffed cards - or just a move? Its not impossible - just b***dy difficult. Paula |

Do you want suggestions in this open forum, or as PMs? |

Open forum I think is fine - It's just a brainstorming session to get us thinking. If it gets to look like we are coming up with a new effect I will ask for the topic to be moved to secret sessions. Paula |

Paula told me to post this to the list and, having been married for 31 years, I automatically follow orders. My suggestion was to do a Linking Matches move, either gripping the "non-moving" card with two fingers, or clipping it in the fold of the left forefinger's knuckle. It works poorly with poker-sized cards, but jus' fine with bridge-sized cards. Paula found better results using her thumb's knuckle fold. I guess she's more dexterous than I; when I tried that earlier, I found that - when it comes to using my thumbs, I'm all thumbs. |

I recall when I was much, much younger reading an effect with matchsticks that was identical in principle to CMH. The maneuver was accomplished by wedging one matchstick under the thumbnail. In a similar vein, it seems to me that an adhesive of some species could be used. You may need to gaff one card with a small tab to give more surface area for the adhesive, but I'd want to play with it a bit before committing to a gaff. If gaffing a card is unavoidable, then maybe a small elastic or IT loop could be used. OK, brain's used up for now. |

Sounds to me like a two card version of a "pass" would fit rather nicely. |

Hi mormonyoyoman's suggestion I played with. Grip the cards but the upmost thumb grips with the knuckle fold - (With me) the card can be held in place by just the thumb, release the grip of the bottom forefinger and leave a very snall gap - now do the movement as per the switching beermats finger overgrip routine. I talks a little but has possibilities. Paula |

Perhaps we need special gaffed cards made out of rubber... :) |

I kinda *thought* this was the area where this thread should exist. Maybe you'll get more response now, Paula. *jeep! --Chet |

As far as pulling the rear card thru the front card from a CMH grip I'm not coming up with anything. I've played with the pass idea but I don't see anything effective happening. At least for me. Many moons ago I saw Al Cohen do an effect where the rear card seemed to melt through the front card (or visaversa) One card, or maybe both, had a slit from the long edge(s) to about center. They were both held vertical. I'm not positive about this since it was so long ago. I'll have to fool around a bit and see if I can refresh my memory. |
